Meet Avicia Walker of House Of Enchantment in Jonesboro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Avicia Walker.

Avicia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a young girl growing up in Chicago, I watched my mother and grandmother run their own business all of my life. My mom a hairdresser and my grandmother a clothing designer, live history storyteller and many other things. I have tried my hand at a lot of careers until I found my love for crafting. I was always trying to figure out how I could make something that I saw and it quickly became a hobby. I started out designing candles and making jewelry. After so many inquiries on my pieces, I decided to try my hand at starting my own business and about two years ago and the House of Enchantment was born. At the time, I was still working 60-70 hours a week and I found it very difficult to stay motivated to create, my job was very demanding. After a much-needed vacation, I decided to dream bigger and take a leap faith to do this full time. I prepared myself and took the necessary steps to make my dream come true and fully be able to focus on House of Enchantment.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Owning your own business is very risky and the challenges come daily. Being able to keep up with the trends and making sure you have a product that people want is challenging. Finding different events to attend where your product will sell is challenging. Some days are better than others and you have to prepare yourself for the days where you won’t do as well as the day before. But in all of that, you cannot give up you just have to keep going.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with House Of Enchantment – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in crystal infused candles, handmade jewelry, and apparel. After digging deep into medication, crystals and the metaphysical world I began making crystal infused candles a few months ago and they took off like crazy. My candles are 100% soy hand-poured in small batches infused with crystals, herbs and fragrance oils. I make wire wrapped crystal jewelry and I hand paint all of my earrings.

What I am most proud of as a company is that I take risk, I’ll try something new without fear and see where it goes. I test new products and look forward to feedback from my customers good or bad. I am always seeking ways to improve and set the bar higher.

What sets me apart from others is that I have one of kinds items that you won’t find anywhere else. Everything is unique and custom made, you won’t find my pieces at your local big box store.

I initially named my business Krafty Kreations By Vee, but after growing more into what my vision is and knowing exactly how I want to be thought of I decided to rebrand and rename my business to House of Enchantments to better suit what I stand for with the motto “Let yourself be enchanted”

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the big city in the middle of the country feel of Atlanta. I’ve always felt like a county girl at heart but coming from a big city like Chicago I still need the city life. Atlanta is the best of both worlds.

What I like least about the city is that my family is back in Chicago, I miss them dearly.
