Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Hasan, Jr.
Anthony, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started two or three years ago when I use to model on the regular and I wanted to come up with a brand for myself as a model. I wanted to come up with something that best describes me and I eventually came up with “Reckless Gentleman” and basically just took off with it. So, on social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter that would be my hashtag on under every picture that I would post and eventually some of my friends who I call my brothers-Demario, Isaac, and Delvin- started voluntarily calling themselves “Reckless Gentleman” as well. When confidence was gaining with the name I wanted to make it bigger and that’s when I started putting in the work to turn it into a clothing brand. So, while I was struggling to find a company or person to make my shirts the way I wanted them, my mother who wasn’t working at the time bought herself a heat press machine and learn the trade of t-shirt making alongside help from my dad, her husband. From there, my vision was slowly but surely becoming reality, with people on social media catching on some of my lady friends was wondering why I didn’t have any women shirts so from there I came up with “Reckless Lady” as the brand for women to accompany the brand for guys “Reckless Gentleman”. So, with two years going by and me staying patient and not rushing anything and selling shirts face to face, out of my car, and so forth. This past April, I felt was the right time to launch my website and officially launch my business. Ever since then business has been great and putting up great numbers for the time span of four months that it has been up and running.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Business-wise, I didn’t really come across any struggles due to the fact of me taking my time with starting up my clothing brand. But I will say the biggest challenge for me was staying patient in the process and at the same time, it was the biggest life lesson for me as well. Two years ago I was impatient and wanted everything ASAP but as time went along and staying with the process my patience with everything has grown substantially.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about RG&L Clothing Brand – what should we know?
Reckless Gentleman & Lady Clothing Brand offer products such as t-shirts (hoodies and dad caps coming in October) that caters to the thoughtful aspect of creativity, determination, and character. We want RG&L Clothing Brand to express one’s pride, attitude, and a positive way of life. With me being the CEO and my mother actually making the shirts, I do everything else when it comes to designs, marketing, shipping, product selection, and sales. My proudest moment so far with my company was reaching $1,000+ in sales in a span of three months since its launch in April. That was my first goal but I wasn’t expecting to reach it so fast honestly. The one thing that sets us apart from any other clothing brand is that for years the word “Reckless” has been known to describe ones bad behavior but here at RG&L Clothing Brand we focus on the other terms such as carefree, daring, and being adventurous while obtaining the mannerisms of a gentleman and lady.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I give all credit to God. I’m blessed and grateful to even be where I am today and he led me down this path. Three years ago I didn’t see myself becoming an entrepreneur and look where I am now. I thank him for placing the right people around me to help my business grow and keep me focus! My mother and dad who has had my back 100% and took the time to help my vision become reality, to my brothers “The Original RGs” Delvin Talton, Kalon Anthony, Demario Holland, Isaac Eaves, and Anthony Proffit, to my photographer who helped a lot, Brandon Nwanze, and to many others who has been with me since day one. These people either helped me out tremendously when it came to launching my business or either pushed me to go even harder than I was before. Oh and to my models and brand ambassadors much love to you all as well.
