Today we’d like to introduce you to Deanna Griffin.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Since elementary school, I have known what I wanted to be when I “grow up.” I was so fascinated with how shows and movies were put together that I realized that is what I wanted to do. When I was in middle school, I would create and edit little videos to get a taste of what I wanted to do one day. I took video production classes throughout high school. I wanted to better my skills, so I purchased my first DSLR camera in my last year of high school. I intended to improve myself in the video production side outside of the classes with no intentions of doing photography as well, but it happened. I do not regret it. I have met and worked with so many amazing people along the way. It has brought me so many opportunities and blessings that I do not know if would have ever gotten if starting photography did not force me to level upon myself.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been the smoothest of roads I would say. I had a lot of up and down moments, but I always found my way out. I would say some a struggle I faced is making sure I do not compare myself to the next because we all are different and have different intentions/goals we are working toward in the end. A quote I keep seeing and is repeatedly told to me is, “What is meant for you, will not pass you by.”
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Deanna G. Media story. Tell us more about the business.
I would not say what I do necessarily is a business, but something I do as a connection to my long-time goal. Does that make sense? I am known mostly for my photography, but I also do videography and video editing. I am making it more apparent that I do video work recently since I do want to go into the Television/Film industry (BTS) I need to showcase my video work more often so it can catch certain eyes because you never know where that one gig will come from.
What I am most proud of is how much I have learned in these three years. I am a self-taught photographer; a lot of what I have done has just been natural to me. It has also taught me a lot about myself and the way I think as a creative. I would say what sets me apart from others is my versatility. I do not have one set style of work. I somewhat adapt to all forms of photography and video.
Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years? Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc?
Over the next 5-10 years, I would hope to see myself on a red carpet. I believe what I am working towards is coming and it will be coming soon. I am a substantial believer in words of manifestation. If you can speak on something, you want, it can happen, but that does not mean you do not have to put any work in for it. Everything I have achieved so far came by putting the work in for it.
