Meet Cole Weber of colecreatives in Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cole Weber.

Cole, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My photography journey started in college, at the University of Georgia. I worked as a designer for UGA Athletics for a couple of years, which led to the opportunity to be a sideline photographer for Georgia Football. Photography became a passion of mine and I quickly learned that one of my favorite places to be on earth is behind the lens of a camera.

After graduating, I moved from Athens to Atlanta and started a full-time Marketing job – putting photography on the back burner for a couple of years. I missed it. In early 2019, colecreatives was born out of a love of photography, a passion for design, and a longing for creative expression. I’ve enjoyed every second of the journey so far (only regret not starting sooner), and I’m excited to see where it goes in the future.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For me, the biggest obstacle was just taking the first step. I carried the idea of colecreatives for so long in my head and did nothing to act on it. It was just a dream of mine. My problem was that I am a planner. Doesn’t sound like a weakness, but hear me out – whenever I did eventually launch colecreatives, I wanted it to be perfect. I wanted to know exactly what I was going to do, when I was going to do it, and how I was going to make it successful. Having a plan isn’t a bad thing necessarily, but you can plan for years and years without ever acting – that’s when it became a problem for me. The day I realized that: 1) I will never have a perfect plan and 2) my goal shouldn’t be a success, it should be joy – that is when I launched colecreatives.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
colecreatives is, and always will be, a work-in-progress. Every day I’m learning and I’m developing my passion. I specialize in portrait, lifestyle, fashion, and editorial photography. Put simply, I create because it’s what I love to do. That is the foundation of colecreatives. It is rooted in the never-ending discovery of creativity and the enjoyment of the process, and that is what sets it apart.

What were you like growing up?
I’d say I grew up as a stereotypical 90’s kid – the Nickelodeon-watching, fort-building, bike-riding kid in the suburbs. I was always curious, and I always wanted to learn new things – two traits I hope to never lose. As a kid, my favorite class in school was always art, because that’s where I had the most fun. In high school, I got into performing arts and developed a love for acting, dancing, and singing – but it wasn’t until college when I finally owned my first camera. I think throughout my childhood, I had the desire for creative expression but didn’t know which facet to pursue. It wasn’t until adulthood that I found photography.
