Today we’d like to introduce you to Razelda Killen.
Razelda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
From childhood, I have always been a crafter at heart. As an adult, I started out by scrapbooking and attending scrapbooking events with friends and even became a member of a local meetup group to keep myself immersed in the crafting world. At one of those meetings, the host decided we would make greeting cards and that one meetup ignited my fuel to make handmade greeting cards, which is where the business began. But then, my hairstylist, Tomeka Starks, asked me about making personalized glasses for her birthday extravaganza and from there a new creative was born. It went from personalized glasses to custom made shirts and other custom gifts! The support has been AMAZING and has definitely empowered me with recognizing strengths I didn’t know I had as well as the opportunity to meet so many people.
As for the name, growing up everyone called me Rae. My early years, I was always with my great grandmother, whom I loved dearly, and her name was Lillie Mae. She celebrates life now in heaven but what better way to cherish and honor her, thus the name “LillieRae”.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not always been smooth. Because I also work a fulltime job that sometimes calls for late hours, getting home to meet a deadline for an order would be stressful and God forbid needing supplies and the store is closed! My fear of not being able to meet a customer’s demand has also been a struggle sometimes but has definitely shown me what I’m capable of because I always make it happen!

It also strikes my interest in expanding my business into other areas of creating and providing a service people can use.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always interested in crafts or making things. I never liked participating in outdoor sports/activities but would prefer being inside making something using my mom’s sewing machine, playing board games, or playing dress-up in my great grandmother’s jewelry. Although outdoors wasn’t my favorite place to be (unless it was cool outside), I would still enjoy playing with neighborhood friends.
I was shy growing up and still am a bit today. But this business has definitely helped with getting me out of my comfort zone, to which I am grateful.
