Today we’d like to introduce you to Dean Wilk.
Dean, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been an automotive professional manager for over 30 years. I have been a Vice president of a major tire company, Regional and District manager as well as Store manager and service writer. I have filled virtually every position in retail automotive.
14 years ago, an opportunity came up for me to own my own shop, I made it happen and have owned and operated the Alpharetta location Since.
We have an excellent reputation here as I believe in building relationships with my customers and am available to them at all times. I do care about the customer and their cars. I do not pay service writers on commission as everyone else does. Commission sales platforms inspire people to sell more so they make more. I do not believe in this as it applies to our industry; the customer has very little knowledge of what we are talking about and it puts them at a disadvantage and gives the service writer all of the power. Not a good idea for car repair. We want the customer to be included and informed as to what they are buying, why they need it, and what advantages it provides so they can make an informed decision.
We offer every customer excellent products at fair prices and the best warranty offered anywhere, all with exceptional customer service. This is why we have so many loyal customers.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall it has always been a privilege to do business in Alpharetta, when the economy collapsed in 2008-2009 there were challenges for all of us.
We became stronger and had to be better to show our customers we are prepared to do anything to make sure they have a positive experience, good repairs with lasting results.
As the economy changes and the employee base changes; you just have to change with it. We will continue to adapt to provide our customers with good products and services and the best customer service.
America’s Service Station Alpharetta – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a full service automotive repair shop. We specialize in being able to work on any make or model car and offer a “We fix Everything” attitude.
We are most known for our level of service to the customer, customers know we are honest, competitive and we want to help them through whatever issue they or the car are having. We want them not just to know but to feel we care about them and their car, not just the money.
I am most proud of the above but would add that I am proud to offer a top level of service and still give the best warranty around. We offer a 3 year/36,000-mile warranty on parts and labor. Most shops only offer a 1 year/12,000-mile warranty and some offer less on the labor.
My motto has always been to offer customers good parts as services, give them a fair price, a good warranty and stand behind everything, if something goes wrong as it often can, just be fair and take care of the customer.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I would say it was when I paid off the business
