Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Averett.
Angela, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I initially thought about starting my company, I did like most people do. I just about it, but after a cycle of low paying, backbreaking jobs it was clear to me that it was time to make a change. My current business partner at that time, was doing odd jobs and because I wasn’t working I decided to go out on jobs, I found the women were more receptive to our presence as couple. It was at that time, I put my plans into action. I went back to school, Atlanta Technical College and received my Business Management Diploma, I took the time to truly learn how to paint and renovate with hands-on training, earned my RRP Certification. Today I am not only the C.E.O of company, I’m very active in Field Operations!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No the struggle has been real, at times wanting to quit and go back to work for someone else. When is business is slow it truly effects the household, as it’s the only source of income. As with any new company you have your growing pains, but give up. I am too determined to let my company fail. I work harder and push harder to get where I this company to be. The remainder is my family, they give me strength!
AG Renovations, Repairs & Resources – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I created the company because I saw the need to make residential home repairs and renovations less of hassle. I’ve went through the process of having renovations done and it can be a headache! The countless calls and time spent waiting for different companies to come out and quote you. All that is very time consuming. We offer many renovations under one roof and what we don’t do we find you that resource, without the price gouge. At AGR3, Inc. we network with other minority owned businesses to assist the customer.
We are a minority owned, Georgia-born business, with over 25 years’ experience in the field. Our company is different because we do the foot work for you and we provide free estimates and consultations. Our specialties are painting, drywall and tile setting; however, we offer many other improvements. At AG Renovations, Repairs & Resources, Inc. “We’re Defying Expectations and Delivering Excellence!”
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
This year we have completed our first commercial property, The Tavern @ Camp Creek, we did the paint, bar and VIP area tile setting. Encourages me to move the towards to business with county and city. Dream big, no limit!
