Meet Laura Wick of Laura Wick Photography in Sandy Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Wick.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Laura. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started getting into photography when I was really young. I loved traveling with my mom to new places, taking pictures, and then putting them in our many photo albums when we got home. We had tons! I didn’t realize I had a passion for photography then though. When I got into my teens, I became obsessed with taking pictures with my friends DSLR camera. We would have photoshoots all the time. Still do! I later got my own camera and started to teach myself the basics of photography and photoshop. Eventually, I realized that I didn’t have to do this just for fun. I enjoyed photographing family gatherings, trips, and just plain life so much that I decided that I wanted to make a career out of it. So, I did. I started my business at age 17 doing family portraits, seniors portraits and proms. I later started doing weddings and fell in love with that industry which brings me here today! I am so happy to do what I love, and I adore being able to provide long lasting memories for my clients like I did for myself growing up.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been a slow road but that’s ok. I started very young, so I was going to school while also learning how to create a solid business. I started out doing small shoots for graduating seniors, proms, small weddings, family shoots etc. As I got more comfortable working with clients and figuring out my style of photography, I naturally started to grow. I am really happy where I am at now and am excited to keep learning and growing.

Laura Wick Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in wedding photography. I do a lot of weddings in Atlanta and North Georgia, but I love traveling to new places and will go anywhere I am needed. As for my style of photography, I love being able to tell stories through my photographs. So for my weddings, I strive to capture the atmosphere and feelings that are present during that day. That way when my clients look back at their photographs, they can remember how they felt rather than just what they looked like. I am very detailed oriented as well, which helps with capturing the emotions of their big day. There is so much that goes into planning a wedding, so I want to make sure they can remember every little detail of it.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success, to me, is when a person works hard to pursue their passion in life. No matter what it is, if you are following your dreams, constantly growing, constantly learning, and setting goals for yourself, then I would say you are successful.
