Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosemarie Rodriguez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Rosemarie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started out as a salsa and bachata dance choreographer back in 2013 for couples and sweet sixteens. This slowly evolved into only working with wedding choreography as my main clientele. One day, I ended up coordinating an entire wedding the day of, for one of my clients without any heads up, or time to think. Once the wedding was successfully finished, I went home and took some time to think about my day. It dawned on me that this was so exciting and the adrenaline of getting everything put together created a desire to start my own business.
I then took some of my own life experiences into consideration. Growing up, I always wanted to have that father-daughter experience, and after losing my father at 13. That all disappeared. This caused me to lose those dreams of having a father-daughter dance on my 16th birthday. It also took away the vision of having a father walk his daughter down the aisle, along with a father-daughter dance at my wedding. This was not only something that was special to me while growing up. I turned it into a positive motivation for me to help others to create these special memories for them. This is an experience that no-one can take away from me. Perfect Moments was created to put together those unforgettable moments that should be perfect. A Perfect Moment is ultimately an experience that you will have for a lifetime and memories for all to remember.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Becoming an event planner, let alone becoming your own boss comes with many struggles. Let me correct my self, it comes with A LOT of struggles. I don’t take the word success so lightly anymore due to the amount of work and mind power that it takes for one person to put together to create a vision. As an entrepreneur, in simple terms is more of a vision creator. I can only speak for myself when I say that most of the struggle comes from two things:
1 – Myself: losing hind site of the vision, feeling lost when I wake up, lack of motivation to keep going. The first thing you say to your self if what is my plan? Where is this going to take me? How long will it take for me to get there?
All these questions are asked to oneself when creating your vision.
1A- How to resolve this: I simply started to pray and meditate more in my direction. I would wake up with reminders on my board, and post-its. I had alarms on my phone and computer. I surrounded my self with like-minded people in the same field as myself. I took one day at a time because God gave me 24 hours in a day to work on my future and all I needed to do was take it one day at a time and not overwhelm my self with the whole plan. Setting goals is the first plan, the goals are to be set for one day at a time. These daily goals are created for you to enjoy the process of how to get to where you think you are going.
Your big plan will change a few times before your actually there but the fun part is the process it took for you to see your vision.
2-Doing it on my own: No-one said, your vision was meant to be done on your own. I was one of those people that said I am alone, I have no-one, and this is my vision I have to do it by myself. I was not mentally ready to build this business.
I was simply still in the process of working on myself and who I was mean to be. I would go to sleep thinking about all the things that I needed to do that were not done. This caused me to lose my drive and feel overwhelmed.
This caused me to be stressed and feel as if I wasn’t any closer to my plan then I was the day before. After a lot of networking and meeting some amazing people along the way.
I found my self in great conversations on how to build my business. The best advice was to find your team.
This is something that I am building now. and I strive to complete it. When having a team, you need to also have patience and compassion.
These are two things that I have learned along the way not only in the business world but also, in my personal life has shown me to hold those two words with high power.
Every road has potholes.
We all need a GOAL: Go Out And Live.
Please tell us about Perfect Moments Event Planning LLC.
My Business is called Perfect Moments Event Planning LLC. We specialize in events (weddings, Galas/awards ceremonies, Birthdays, Gender reveals, baby showers), etc. and delivering an experience that everyone will talk about for a lifetime. This is done by having a one on one conversation with each client, we first schedule a complimentary apt to talk about your vision and expectations, once you have decided what that will be, we also go over your budget and realistic plans on what that budget will detail. The concept behind hiring Perfect Moments is that I will assist in all the small details you didn’t even know existed in order for everything to flow as smooth as possible. My second goal is to save you as much money as we can. Again, by hiring us, you will have the added advantage of having several choices in vendors and see their quality and pricing. This way we can make the best choice and save you money in doing so. We will mold your vision into a reality, causing your family and friends to see what you have been dreaming about your whole life. The other aspect of our business is Decor, we work with 100% trust of our clients to provide them a unique and artistic centerpiece and floral arrangements. You can’t find the right bouquet you like? We also provide custom bouquets based on any combination that you envision.
Our main focus in planning your events is the day of coordination. This is the most important day for our clients and their families. No one should be burdened with all the stressing details when they should be enjoying the event. Therefore, we take care of that. We will coordinate every little timing detail for vendor setup, transportation, catering, decor and overall schedule for the event.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Many times I think to myself about starting over, but when I sit back to think there isn’t much I would want to start over. I have met many people in my life that have influenced every aspect of my business, from small details to the name of the website and logo, to my referred clients. I am a strong believer that everything happens for a reason and that every reason has its purpose. With that being said, there is nothing that I would start over. There will always be moving and changing parts to my business that will always keep me up to date with the next new style.
