Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Edwards.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Nikki. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started Nikkilosophy on Snapchat in 2015. Basically, what I would do is pick a topic (anything from dating to apartment hunting) & discuss it. I’ve been thru a lot, especially dating wise, so I have loads of knowledge to share. A lot of people tuned in and it begin to grow. I was a college student at the time & school got demanding so I kind of fell off after about a year of doing it on Snapchat. A little while later, people began asking me when I was starting my series again. So, I started back doing it. Everyone knows that after 24 hrs, snap stories disappear. I needed a way that my episodes could be available for viewing after the 24 hr time period. A loyal member of the NikForce recommended that I start up a Facebook page so I could save my videos. I started the Facebook page in February 2018 and I’ve been expanding from there. I began the Nikkilosophy YouTube channel shortly after that. This is where you’ll find what I like to call my “fun side”. It’s more relaxed there. I do vlogs, hauls, tutorials, mukbangs, etc. As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been through a lot when it comes to dating. In March 2018, I published my first book titled, “Nikkilosophy: Lovers of a Young Girl”. This book basically discusses all of my past relationships. Each chapter is about a different relationship. At the end of each chapter, I have a moral which consists of the lessons I learned from each situation.
After I wrote that book, I decided to switch gears a bit just to test my writing skills. In July 2018, I published my second book titled, “NIKROTICA”. This is a collection of erotic short stories. Each chapter is centered around a different couple in a different situation. Each scene is described in explicit detail so I marketed that one to people 18+. The response I received from both books were outstanding. They are available for purchase on Amazon, Barnes & Noble online & Books A Million online. This is where I realized I loved to write. In February 2019, I launched my website ”nikkilosophy.com”. My website has an online blog built into it. Right now, it’s just being primarily used for ads but within the next couple weeks, I will fully begin using it as a daily blog.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been about as smooth as peanut brittle, lol. In the beginning, when I fell off doing it, I couldn’t find the balance between school and my brand. Once I entered the workforce, it was easier to make time for it. Once I made it a priority, being consistent was my next struggle. There were times where I couldn’t come up with video ideas or topics so I found myself going 1-2 weeks without posting any content. Then, I was also getting frustrated about my stats (views, likes, subscribers, etc.).
Please tell us about Nikkilosophy – what should we know?
I do a lot under the Nikkilosophy brand. On Facebook, I address topics that most people are scared or ashamed to talk about, the hard stuff; things society needs to address. My area of expertise is dating/relationships but I don’t box myself into just that genre. I’m not scared to address anything, that’s what people love about me. NikForce knows that they can ask me to talk about anything. If someone asks me to cover a topic that I’m not well versed in, I research it. In the video, I’ll present facts while also giving my personal opinion. On YouTube is where you’ll find my fun side. I do vlogs, hauls, makeup, etc. Basically, a lot of fun randomness. I do have a series called The BBW Chronicles that I specifically do on YouTube. It covers different issues within the plus-sized community. I’m also published my books under my brand. My website is also a subset of my content brand. I’m most proud of my growth as a whole. I’ve tailored different platforms to reach different people for different reasons.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Above everything, God. Everything that I do flows through Him. Next is being authentic. People want someone real and true that they can relate to. In everything I do, I always make sure to remain Nikki E. The same person I was back when my show was Snapchat based, is the same person I’ll always be. I don’t let the elevation change my personality.
