Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamond Walker.
Diamond, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When asked to give my story I can honesty say that I am stuck. I was torn in figuring out what story about my life I wanted to share. I grew up in DeKalb County to a loving single mother. I was taught to appreciate the small things, and have hope for the bigger things.
My mom always made sure I was surrounded by influential people to help give me certain tools that she may not have had, hence the reason I chose the career of teaching. I had teacher’s help mold me into the young women I am today. From the university that I chose to the sorority I pledge all was because of my teachers. Being a teacher, I feel like I am giving my students tools they need to succeed in life as well. I also serve in the Stone-Mountain Lithonia Alumni Chapter as a Debutante Sub-Chair to help high school senior girls be poised, polished, and prepared for college.
As of late, I have created a business called Thee Diamond Experience, LLC. I noticed that I had a passion for event planning and design. My business caters to weddings, baby showers, and graduation parties.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road, but it as been a road well-traveled. I have heard alot of no’s, alot of doubt from naysayers but it was worth it.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Thee Diamond Experience – what should we know?
My business is called Thee Diamond Experience. LLC. It is an event planning business specializing in weddings, baby showers, and graduation parties. What I am most proud of with my business is it getting started. I was apprehensive in starting it, but I am glad I took the leap of faith in starting it.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Being optimistic in every situation has helped guide me to success. I think if you always look at life in a half-full lens rather than a half-empty lens the outcome will be better. Keeping a positive thought process is what gives me the most success also.
