Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Nalepa.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Mark. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Believe it or not, my journey into the window cleaning industry began as a pastor. Having served as a pastor for many years, over time the desire to give myself to some other pursuits began to increase. After investigating other opportunities, the idea of creating my own window cleaning company began to consume my imagination.
It wasn’t an altogether new and unfamiliar experience for me. In my younger days, while attending seminary, I was able to ‘make ends meet’ by working for a window cleaning company. Having said that, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would return to that industry.
While the transition from pastor to window washer doesn’t seem likely at face value, there is a common theme between the two vocations. The ancient Middle Eastern practice of washing another’s feet speaks of serving another. It carry’s the connotation of prioritizing others by meeting their needs. A pastor’s responsibility is to serve people, to “wash their feet” if you will. I’ve just simply transitioned from feet to windows.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The transition hasn’t been easy, but anyone who has started their own business knows that firsthand. You’re taking an idea, in this case a service, and creating it from nothing. You are literally taking it from your mind and applying all your time, energy, and resources to place it on the minds and attention of everyone else.
Window cleaning has its own unique set of challenges. One is that it is perceived by many to be a ‘luxury service.’ In other words, most everyone wants it, but because you can live and function without it…as opposed to a broken furnace or AC unit…window cleaning gets bumped to the bottom of lists and financial priorities to address around the house.
Another issue is the perceived cost of a window cleaning service. Most people assume it is costly, but it’s actually more affordable than people realize. The price of a full interior and exterior residential window cleaning service runs significantly less than the price of one replacement window. There’s no need to spend thousands on replacement windows, when for a fraction of the cost one can enjoy clean, clear, and sparkling windows with a simple window cleaning service.
Lastly, I’m confident that the residential window cleaning industry would benefit greatly if most men began to understand women better. In the movie “Exit from Eden” (1994), Rosie O’Donnell’s character is vacationing on a tropical island. In one scene, she is approached by a young and handsome man. He asks her “how can I fulfill your fantasy?” She quickly responds “go paint my house.”
Take it from a guy who has been married for over two decades, most women don’t want another pair of “pajama grams” or a ridiculously oversized teddy bear where there is no conceivable place to store it. Among other things, women want their house taken care of, and that includes clean windows. And that’s the “gospel truth.”
We’d love to hear more about your business.
What sets “SeeClear Premier Window Cleaning Service” apart from most other window cleaning services is the word “premier.” When I started this company, I wanted it to be different than other companies on so many levels.
Many window cleaning services strive to produce the best results for their customers. Unlike many other companies, SeeClear believes that offering a “premier” service does not end with clean, clear, and sparkling windows…it begins there.
Being “premier” not only includes our “results”, but our “appearance.” The impression we make with our appearance matters. Whether serving a residential or commercial property, we want to be an extension of our customer’s values. Our clean uniform and proper attire reflect our commitment to serving our customers with the utmost professionalism.
The third and most distinguishing feature of SeeClear is our “presence.” How we make our customers feel is extremely important. Treating everyone in a dignified, respectful, and trustworthy manner is our priority. Unfortunately, with many other window cleaning companies, this is significantly lacking. There are some window cleaners who can barely be trusted on the outside of a home, let alone inside. We treat our customer’s space, whether their home or business, with the highest degree of respect and integrity. We strive to possess a presence and spirit that is courteous, polite, and always professional. This really does set us apart.
