S. Hilton Publishing was created in 2016 to meet a need. As an English Professor and author, I realized that I wanted to help others publish their own work and keep their rights. I have spent years researching and learning the ins and outs of the publishing market.
Along the way, I have met many writers who wanted a chance to tell their stories but did not know-how. Learning your writing voice takes time and having a little guidance makes the journey a little easier. My goal is to help others fulfill their desire to publish.
Has it been a smooth road?
The journey has been filled with ups and downs, but the main goal was to keep going and not be afraid to reinvent yourself. Change is a part of the game and you have to know when to try something new in order to succeed.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
As an Associate English Professor/Writer for over ten years, I decided it was time to use my talents and run my own publishing business. I specialize in editing, writing, crafting bodies of work, tutoring, and educating. I am most proud of the fact that I have helped numerous people get their book out into the hands of new readers. What sets me apart as a publishing company is that I was a writer first and studied what it took to be good, so I can relate to my writers better.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
I would say to remain flexible and be okay with change. You need to be okay with always learning and being a constant student.
