Meet Tia Jackson of Ti Nailed It

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia Jackson.

Tia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After graduating from high school, I discovered that I was pregnant with my son, Royce. Right away, I knew that I was going to accept my responsibility as a mother. I continued my education online attending Georgia State University majoring in Journalism. Being a news anchor has always been a dream of mine! Although I’m a student, I’m a mother first and being financially successful is my top priority!

I began working again once my son was around three months and everyday I would write a list of things I wanted to get of accomplished. One of the things I wrote was that I would become a successful lash tech, but instead I decided to follow nails. I thought why not? I’m always at the nail salon I can do it myself and be successful doing it! Every time someone asks me why I got started, I always tell them the hustle. Don’t get me wrong, I love doing nails, but I always love being a provider.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course, there’s always going to be struggles! I would say perfecting my craft and building clientele. I did take a nail class but its a major difference when you watch someone perform a service and then you do it yourself. You think it’s easy until you’re on the other side of that brush. There’s always going to be a little doubt here and there but you have to keep a positive mindset.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Ti Nailed It – what should we know?
Ti Nailed It! I’m proud of myself. My business is going to go far. I have a solid foundation and a great support group. That’s what really helps. When you have a new business it can become discouraging when you don’t receive the support you thought you were going to get. You can’t focus on that though, you have to just focus on getting where you want to be! I’m trusting my process.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My dear ole Dad! When I came to him with the idea of me doing nails he was my investor. My father invested in my business because he knew it would be successful. Having someone to believe in your dream and actually invest in it means so much.
