Meet Ross Boone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ross Boone.

Ross, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After an Engineering degree, a degree in Industrial Design, and a Master’s in Theology, I became a freelance artist and writer.

I grew up in a good Christian home but my analytical, creative mind quickly became skeptical of the rote answers I was getting to my questions about faith.

Driven by the hope in a purpose greater than myself, that same analytical, creative mind churned until I started producing more satisfying answers to these questions.

And now, though still on the journey, my mission is to help other journeyers find satisfying answers through art, writing, and finding their mission.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have done dozens of what I call “Mission Maps” to help people find their calling. And a large portion of that process is asking what challenges they have worked through. This is because I believe working through certain struggles is what gives us answers with which we can help others who are earlier in the journey.

The challenge of finding compelling answers to the questions being leveled at faith have been the very thing that equipped me with answers to give to others.

And the challenges of running a small business and pursuing my mission have taught me more answers to pass on to others desiring to pursue a purpose.

What should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I sell prints of my art and my books.

I partner with churches to help them engage their congregation through art and story and to help them unlock their own creative journey.

I’ve written for the Christian blogs Boundless (the young adults’ blog of Focus on the Family, though I don’t subscribe to all of their views) and YMI.today (of Our Daily Bread).

I do commissions and have done work for entities such as Chik-fil-A, Joshilyn Jackson, and Home Depot.

I also am a network artist with The Sketch Effect, which sends me across the nation to do graphic recording. Graphic recording is note-taking with words and drawings and I have done this at hundreds of meetings for companies such as Coca-Cola, Chick-Fil-A, the FDA, Accenture, and Georgia Tech. It’s a blast. Check out TheSketchEffect.com.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I’ve had to readjust my definition of success lately. In the past, I’ve looked at the number of followers or the prestige of my clients.

But I realized a truer measure of success is if I am doing the most I can with what I have been given and if lives are being improved by it.
