Today we’d like to introduce you to Trenton Jackson.
Trenton, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up in the south. South as in areas you wouldn’t know. South as in racism running freely and unchecked. South as in religious, close-minded people deciding what God is for or against. & early on I knew that I wanted to do/be more than what was “normal” in that society.
Since a kid, I have made it a goal to push barriers of the “normal and expected.” That bled over into my career as an entrepreneur. I look around…I see what works…I see what sells…I see what’s popular…and I say “Okay. How can I make the opposite of that dope?” When I started Jesus Loves You, it was a similar mindset. I saw how saturated and cliche the statement “Jesus Loves ME” had become, and I started thinking of the song “Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so.” I stopped and asked myself… “What about the people who didn’t have a Bible telling them so?” “What about the people who didn’t have a parent or grandparent dragging them to church?” “Who told them?”
And that’s when it started. God dropped the phrase “Turn The Conversation Around” in my soul, and I knew it was time to swap it up once again. Let’s go against the grain & so The Jesus Loves You Company was born.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth, but it has been well supported.
When you are putting out campaigns such as “Jesus Hates Racism…But Loves The Racist.” or “I Apologize For Mean Christians.” you run into your fair share of backlash. As expected.
But I have said from the beginning that we are going to CREATE FROM CONVICTION, and I understand that in doing that, sometimes I’m asking for a bumpy road. But we have one of the best global communities and support systems, I believe, of any other company.
Jesus Loves You customers are considered family, and our family makes everything so much easier. Shoutout to them.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jesus Loves You – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We are a Jesus-based movement structured as a clothing line. We focus on designing pieces that start conversation (good or bad) that we hope can lead to a relationship that we believe will ultimately change lives.
We focus on just being genuine people and a company. In such a crowded market, it takes time for people to know if you’re genuine or not. So many companies are attaching God, Jesus, Holy, Christ, Bible, Blessed to their business and calling it a “faith-based company.” When in actuality it’s their personal hustle with a Christian word attached to it to help gain traction and sales amongst the Christian community.
We want to be more than that. If we ever get there, we pray that we don’t sell a single piece, because we aren’t here to be another clothing line. There are plenty of clothing lines. NOBODY NEEDS ANOTHER CLOTHING LINE. What people need is a movement that they can stand BESIDE, and believe in because they know the true heart of.
That’s the mission of Jesus Loves You. “Love People. Be Genuine. Don’t Stop.”
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Aside from different releases, and a few big surprises coming up, we are honestly just going to continue building. We are figuring out new stuff everyday, and we are using those lessons to prepare a fuller experience for Jesus Loves You customers.
