Today we’d like to introduce you to Janita Jackson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always been an entrepreneur at heart. I began my path of existence in the Midwest, more specifically Chicago, Illinois which shaped me into the woman I am today. I migrated to Atlanta when I was pursuing my undergraduate studies at Kennesaw State University. I worked in the criminal justice field for over ten years, where my daily duties often required me to be in courtrooms, in the company of lawyers and I often spoke before judges. I was the individual at work who people would always ask “Why are you still here”. Because upon meeting me they could see how bright my light was shining and seemed to know that I was not fully walking in my purpose.
My life would forever change December 13, 2017 when my father passed away. Losing him left me emotionally shattered and lost. He truly was my #1 cheerleader in life. When he passed away, I thought about every occurrence when he may have needed me and my corporate duties at my 9 to 5 prevented me from being by his side. It left a bitter taste in my mouth when I thought of all of the times I could have been by his side but instead chose to be loyal to my job duties. That moment would forever change my life because I decided to break free and finally let my inner light shine freely. I was empowered, as I began to pick up the shattered pieces of myself and stitch them back together. I was never born to live in the constraint of someone else’s job or company. Instead, I was created to forge my own path in the world and so I did. I was not foreign to the concept of business because I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management in addition to having a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Law. Therefore, I made the active decision to put my knowledge to use to help others and so my journey began.
In the midst of one of the greatest storms in my life Infinite Potential Financial Consulting was created. I enrolled in courses to increase my knowledge base in finances and obtained certifications to strengthen my abilities. A blazing desire to help others and a passion to create change in the world was birthed within me. Suddenly I knew I was meant to provide financial education to individuals and families in an effort to combat the poverty mindset that some individuals possess. I knew that I was going to help families achieve their financial goals and become homeowners, and business owners so that they could pursue their dreams. I knew that God had placed a calling on my life and that I had to follow that calling. Life often gives us lemons, my calling is to help people gather those lemons and meet them where they are to help them create their own recipe for lemonade that is unique to their needs.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road but if given another choice I would do it all over again. Becoming an entrepreneur is perhaps one of the most difficult things that anyone can do because it requires you to be in tune with your own vision. Pursuing your dreams is not easy. You have to have thick skin because sometimes the people closest to you will not always support you or understand your choices and decisions. I started my journey while I was still grieving my father so I dealt with serious instances of depression along the way. Not all women handle things the same, but for me there were several days where I wanted to cry and give up. It is those instances in which I thought that I had reached my limit that I found out there was another level just waiting on me. The number one struggle is the fight within yourself. You can not rise to the next level and mentally remain the same. There are often thoughts of I can’t do it or maybe my dream is just too big. That is where faith comes in. I had to tell myself I didn’t come this far just to quit and even in those moments where I wanted to give up. I just kept pushing.
Please tell us about Infinite Potential Financial Consulting LLC.
My business is a financial services firm that is focused on assisting individuals to become their best financial selves. All of our services fall within one of our three divisions. Our company consists of the Financial Literacy Division, the Business and Professional Division and the Training and Development Division. The Financial Literacy Division provides tax preparation services, credit restoration services, financial coaching services and financial advising. The Business and Professional Development Division provides business consulting services which include business establishment, business management consulting, Non-profit establishment, grant writing services, business credit development services and business coaching. The Training and Development Division consists of classes, workshops and speaking engagements. This is the division where our passion for financial education shines through with drive to educate as many teenagers and young adults on different topics as it pertains to finance as possible.
We are known for the quality of services that we provide to our clients. We have over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry and we believe in developing a collaborative relationship with our clients. We change lives because we not only assist clients with restoring their credit but we also educate them so they can maintain those results. We assist our clients in being able to qualify for life-changing events, such as purchasing a home or obtaining the capital needed to start a new business. We assist clients with starting businesses and ensure that their businesses are established correctly for them to start building business credit and seek funding opportunities. We assist businesses in crisis by analyzing the company and providing recommendations on how the business can be improved. We assist nonprofit companies with obtaining funding so they can extend their reach in the community to as many people as possible.
I am proud of our integrity and how we literally are helping our clients to make a positive change in their personal lives or their businesses. With every service we provide there is a level of education provided so we are pouring into our clients. We have positioned ourselves to be part of changing the financial lifestyles of our clients in a manner which can benefit their future generations and the best part about that is that we are just getting started.
What sets us apart from others is our individuality and our genuineness. We generally care about our clients and our employees. With every life we are able to touch our future becomes that much brighter.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
There are so many. I’m a Daddy’s girl at heart. One of my favorite memories is of my Daddy having a candlelit dinner with me. I was a little girl, maybe nine or ten years old at the time and he went all out. My father was a chef and on this night he cooked steak, lobster tails, shrimp, baked potatoes and I mean the set up was absolutely beautiful. The candles were flowing brightly and it was so pretty. He even poured some grape juice is a little wine glass for me. He pulled out my chair and let me sit down and I had such a wonderful time with him that night. I also love seafood so he was spoiling me rotten. I did not realize until I was much older that he was doing more than having a wonderful father-daughter moment with me. I realized he was showing me how a woman should be treated by a man. Even in that blessing there was a lesson. That is who my father was to me and I miss him dearly everyday.
