I began doing makeup when I was about 17. I never looked at it as an aspiring career or anything like that. It was more so something I did in my spare time. I’ve always been an introvert, so I spent a lot of time to myself. Once I left home for college, I started getting more into it. Doing a little makeup here and there on the side. I was a student as well as working two jobs. I always had trouble happily keeping a job. I didn’t mind working but I didn’t understand why the people who did the most work made the least amount of money and that brought constant stress. I knew I needed to be my own boss. A week after my 20th birthday, I received information of a job opening at a kiosk in Arbor Place Mall in Douglasville. It was a makeup booth and I figured I might as well do something I love if I’m going to be at work all day. From there, I grew my skill, got into my own suite, got certified as a microblading artist, eyelash extension technician & I finished Esthetician school. My brand is everything of mine, all things beauty and something I hold so close to my heart.
Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely not, I’ve faced many obstacles along the way. I still continue to face obstacles. That’s the thing about entrepreneurship… there are never-ending struggles that you face. I’ve dealt with so much, from personal situations that have taken so much from me. My kits have been stolen, I’ve been scammed by clients and customers, I’ve had to relocate drastically and rebuild clientele but I regret nothing. I learn from everything and it just pushes me to go harder.

Taylor Made The Brand is a beauty business that offers versatile makeup services, microblading and ombré brow enhancement eyelash extensions, and we also sell our own lipgloss. What I am most proud of is our ability to service many clients for different things. My goal was for my name to come up in different ways. You need makeup? Oh, Taylor does it, Brows? She does that too .. lashes? You get the point. I think that is also what’s sets us apart from others.
