Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Hunt.
Steven, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My love for food and moreover hospitality started at a young age. I have always loved entertaining and putting on an event. I remember so many days working with my grandmother and mother in the kitchen learning how to cook, not from a recipe but from your heart. I remember that most occasions brought more people than our house could fit. The hospitality they showed anyone who needed somewhere to come eat and relax was truly inspiring. Naturally, when it was time to make a decision for college, I chose hospitality of course. I attended Johnson and Wales University and majored in Hospitality and Restaurant Management. After graduation, I chose to leave the comfort of a familiar place and move to Atlanta, where I knew no one. I now am so excited to call Atlanta my home and bring my family’s take on hospitality to this great city.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle that I have faced has been the loss of my mother. This situation almost broke me and it really affected me personally and professionally. Having a very strong connection with my mother and losing her really changed who I am as a person. In that moment, I found myself lost in my career and conflicted if I would stay in Atlanta. Ultimately I choose to build a life here based on my goal of bringing some of my family’s hospitality to Atlanta.
