Meet M.C. Walker of Celebrity Ghostwriter in South Fulton

Today we’d like to introduce you to M.C. Walker.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up as a kid, I was immensely drawn to the art of storytelling and writing. So much so that I would write mini books in school and in my diary. I was an introvert growing up or quiet nerd. I used to write love letters for my friends in school. My teachers would all ask me about writing creatively and I didn’t want that added pressure. I was nervous and unsure of myself. Books changed the way I looked and understood the world. Reading made me believe that I could create or do anything. Thus, I started writing in 2005 after high school. I joined the blogging craze and interviewed authors. I maintained my blog for about seven years until I learned how to the point on subject matters that I really cared about. Blogging gave me creative control and writing allowed me to understand myself and my voice. I was addicted to the writing process and learning!

Growing up in Atlanta, you meet a lot of interesting and creative people. However, I didn’t really have anyone guiding me through my journey of becoming a blogger, author, or ghostwriter. I had to figure it out. If it wasn’t for the hunger and curiosity inside of me to see my name in print. I don’t know where I would be today. I’ve contributed to over ten books professionally as a ghostwriter. I’ve successfully published my own books and produced a stage play without any formal training.

I come from very humble and poor beginnings where most of my family members maintain a job for ten to twenty years. I didn’t want to be a worker bee and just only imagine my dreams. It was scary being the first in my family to do anything out of the ordinary. I knew I was called to be a storyteller and writer early on in my life. It was just a matter of trusting the path God created for me and watching it happen.

Has it been a smooth road?
Some of my biggest challenges in writing professionally were knowing when to break the cycle of working full time. I knew writing full time and getting paid to write was something I always wanted to do. I just did not know how to make the transition. It felt like I was waiting for someone to give me permission to go out and follow my dreams. It definitely did not happen that way. I worked for many years. I would tell people about my dreams to be a writer. It would go into one ear and out of the other. At some point, I stopped talking about it because I became embarrassed. I didn’t believe in myself so why would other people?

I was writing in hobby status for years. I would take a few writing gigs here and there. Some miraculous things started happening in my life. Things that I could only imagine in mind that only God could do. I received that as confirmation. It was like an alarm going off inside my spirit and no matter how much I hit the snooze button, it wouldn’t go off. So, I made up mind at the end of 2017 that I was going to pursue writing full time. I cleaned out my desk and started saving my money. I’ve been writing full time for a year and ten months. I’ve had great success as a writer. The biggest challenge I’ve experienced is knowing when to ask for help in your business. I was used to saying yes to all my client’s needs that I would feel burnout. I decided to hire some help and ease my burdens a bit. Now, I’m able to focus on projects that I care about in my own brand without sacrificing my clients.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Celebrity Ghostwriter – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in helping creative entrepreneurs tell their brand story. I also help individuals who always have imagined becoming a published author tell their story, whether it’s a book idea or articles to increase website traffic. I help accomplish the goal for my client.

I’m most proud of my consistency in building a recognizable name or brand that people know and respect. There are many ghostwriters. However, not many are women of color. I like the support of my online friends who see how hard I work and will refer my services to family and friends they meet. Five years ago, no one was checking for me or asking me to write anything.

What sets me apart from other writers is my positive attitude and willingness to give back to my community. I make a good living from writing for others. However, I understand that so many people have stories trapped inside of them that they don’t know how to get out. In the next year, I’d like to develop some writing workshops and online courses to help young men and women learn how to express and heal themselves through writing.
