Meet Paxton (Pat) Mayes of Patman Music in Southside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paxton (Pat) Mayes.

Paxton (Pat), can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born at Grady Memorial Hospital in the city of downtown Atlanta. I started rapping at the young age of 16, with a best friend of mines that was a popular Dj know as Dj Threat. We started doing shows and going on the road. The vibe was so awesome from the crowd when I blessed the mic. And that’s when I realize that was what I wanted to do. So me and Dj Threat went hard in the studio and did my very first Ep. titled “ Still My Block, My Neighborhood “ it had 20 songs on it that went crazy in the streets. So together, we knew we had some special. So as time went on, I continued to grind and did a show at the famous club on Bankhead known as the Poole Palace. At the time, the snap moment was big in Atlanta D4l had just dropped “ Bet You Can’t Do It like Me “ and “ Laffy taffy “. If you were from the South, then you know what I’m talking about. R.I.P to Carlos Walker the (CEO) know as Shawety Lo, who passed away in a tragic car accident. Moving forward my music gain the attention of Mykel Myers, the (CEO) of the Hotblock Magazine company. Who’s unfortunately passed away also from health issues (sad). He started promoting me in his independent magazine titled Hotblock Magazine. And shot my first music video titled “ Pat Go” and from that point on my career took off. So I decided to continue my journey with my music promoting on SoundCloud, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. Which gained the attention of Jay Grind the (CEO) Of Grind Media, a video and promotion internet world platform. That promotes media and shoot video and explain the life’s culture for all different aspects. Well, I can talk you guys ears off cause I love music, so if you all want to continue my journey with me, here is my social media pages to add me. Facebook Paxton (Pat) Mayes, Instagram Pat_Patman, YouTube Channel Patrick Mayes A. K. A Patman. I’ll be looking forward to hearing from your that for the Luv and support.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My hardest struggle was losing my dear friend and (CEO) Of Hotblock Magazine Mykers Myers to health issues. Until this day, it still hurts to talk about this, he shot my first music video titled “ Pat Go “ that went viral on YouTube. And promoting me in all of his magazines and always had me doing shows. (Sad) When he died, I just stopped music altogether. But it was something about the fans and friends that said continue to grind and make Mike proud. So I continue to work and meet a super-producer name Azar Malone better knows as Dr. Rock. He hosted my mixtape My Gift 2! Da Streets and produced my hit song Drop Them Bands On Her, and set the streets and clubs on fire. Also, It was in rotation on Streetz 94.5, and that’s was a big moment in my life hearing my song on the radio. And that’s when I realize I must keep going.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m independent, no handouts just grinding making a name for myself. I’m not waiting for no record label, just pure ambition and hard work. My hustle, I keep going with my music and shooting my music video even when it seems like my music is not taking off like it should be. But I’m super proud of my faith and loyalty and dedication to my dream passion and hustle 💯💯

What were you like growing up?
Lol, I was just a regular kid. I love to play my Nintendo video game, hit backflips with my friends and listen to rap music. I was always mind mannered and quiet but I just loved to do what normal kids do. Lol
