Meet Corey Sherman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Sherman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Corey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began as a college basketball player in hopes of possibly going overseas. I transferred from a NCCAA (National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association) to a division 2. Things didn’t really go as planned so I decided to go into a different direction since I was no longer playing ball. I met a friend by the name of Jeremy Hershberg who influenced me into getting in the gym more even though I was no longer playing sports. He introduced a different hobby and goal that I could dedicate myself too as well as being a bit more adventurous which is modeling. His resume is of course better than mine. However, in the three years I have dedicated myself to working out, I have made a major transformation.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth transition to say the least. I went and still go through the struggles of missing the game a lot. I still try to stay apart by participating men’s league basketball games or just playing pickup. However, I have realized that there is more to life aside from basketball. In addition, college itself has also become an issue due to school work and studying. The whole transition itself has been a huge struggle. Mentally, it can be tough going to the gym on a consistent basis. Trying to figure out what body part to work or just working them all equally and figuring out how to improve any way possible.

One major struggle is eating. In order to transform your body there many things taken into consideration such as what foods to eat as to if you are trying to clean bulk then eating good carbs or just gain weight in general then just eating. If you want to tone like I did, you have to actually watch what you are eating as far as having a high protein intake and staying away from carbs. Overall, it can no longer be called a diet. You have to make a habit and lifestyle if you want to get where you want to be.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
So as an aspiring model, I want to make the transformation into becoming a brand model. Such as either looking into fitness modeling for Nike, UA and Puma or just for top tier clothing companies such as Polo Ralph Lauren. I feel as though I personally specialize more so into fitness modeling given that I was a former collegiate athlete. I have the body type for a basketball/football player or just anything fitness in general. I am most proud of how far I have come in my journey throughout the whole process. It hasn’t been a walk in the park. I am also proud of myself for getting out there and trying something new. Anyone that knows me knows that I am mainly to myself, an introvert. I believe my look sets me apart. I know it sounds really vague, but I am 6’2 which is taller than the average height for males. I have a really good physique in my opinion, as well as a grey patch of hair that stands out to most people in the front of my head.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have disciplined myself a bit more and manage my financials in order to get more photos done professionally. I have done a few photoshoots here and there which I feel like I could live without. Given, I did get practice from it and some photos. However, the photos weren’t quite up to par as I was expecting. You live and you learn though right? I think also not being afraid to reach out to people early on and pick different minds. Putting my pride aside and just getting any advice needed to help me improve. Lastly, just disciplining myself more in the kitchen. Cooking more and researching the right kinds of foods in order to help me succeed in the best way possible.
