Thanks for sharing your story with us Kye. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I conceptualized Sipping Prettea, I was in an extremely dark space; struggling through postpartum depression and infidelity in my relationship at the time. I just didn’t feel beautiful. Incorporating self-care into my daily routine saved me. I genuinely loved experimenting with raw ingredients and watching the progress of my hair, skin and weight loss journey as I transitioned to a chemical-free lifestyle.
The only part of my beauty regimen I wasn’t making at the time was tea. Drinking tea was how I started my day each and every day. I relied on tea to boost my energy and assist in my body goals. I was purchasing tea from one of those gimmicky brands (I won’t name them because I never want to talk down on another brand name). It was expensive. One day, as I sat on the couch waiting for my tea to steep, I was almost magnetically drawn to read the ingredients on the back of the package and look up how much it would cost to buy them in bulk for my home. I saw the cost efficiency and all of the different types of herbs that carried such amazing benefits. Then, like a ton of bricks, the idea just hit me.
The name. The logo. The mission. EVERYTHING came to me in that moment.
I had never in my life thought of owning a business or had any ideas I wanted to monetize before Sipping Prettea. I was comfortable with the 9-5 life. Then suddenly, an idea comes to me and I’m carrying around a notebook, jotting down ideas, researching herbs, and completely consumed with the idea of perfecting tea.
To be honest, the same way the idea came to me, is the same way ideas surrounding the brand have continued to come to me along the way. I didn’t think to add tea-infused beauty products until a conversation with a friend. I didn’t think I would depend on this idea as sole income until I randomly quit my job without any savings put away. I didn’t think to open a tea bar until I drove past a vacancy sign on the way home.
I’m a firm believer in everything aligning in your life as so because it’s an experience curated specifically for you. Sipping Prettea was hands down my calling. Every sign I see, I take it. I feel like that mentality has gotten me to where I am today. Had I not taken so many risks without thought of failure, I wouldn’t be able to witness these successes.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not at all!
There were A LOT of “no’s” and instances where I constructed these extravagant ideas for the brand that I couldn’t execute on. That same ‘just do it’ attitude has also gotten me jammed up, but it taught me to learn through these lessons.
Quick struggle story: When I first launched the online store, I got a sale on the first day. I was so excited. That one customer made me feel like I on the road to being a successful business owner. And then…nothing. After that sale, I hadn’t sold anything for the entire year. I could’ve easily called it a failure and moved on, but I never stopped putting in the work and now it’s apart of my story.

Sipping Prettea is a premier tea company that sells beautifying drinking blends, tea-infused beauty products and tea-infused spa treatments. All of our teas and tea-infused are hand-blended in a kitchen using high-quality raw ingredients and we intend to keep it that way. We will never be a factory brand. Even our facial masks are made fresh at time of service. Sipping Prettea offers a unique concept because it gives our #TeaBaes an Instagram worthy experience that actually enhances their hair skin and body with all-natural ingredients. We create products and treatments that are key to the individual who comes in because every beauty barrier is different. All products sold are mixed and personally used by me, the (SHE)eo of Sipping Prettea.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Friday nights at my great-grandmother’s house. All of my family would meet there after work to play card games and eat Chinese take out.It would be so much fun and laughter.
