Meet Jaire-Tariq Richardson of I Will Prosper in South Fulton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaire-Tariq Richardson.

Jaire-Tariq, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Although my mom was a single mother growing for me wasn’t too hard. I was raised by 3 powerful women, my aunt, my grandmother, and my mom. I had to quickly learn how to develop independence. My mom and my dad have been split up for as long as I can remember. And for about ten years, I was an only child until my little brother was born. Things quickly took a turn for the worse when I started to suffer from depression. Since my little brother was born, I had to step up and help my mom with making his bottles, cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc. I did whatever I needed to do. At the time, I felt like I wasn’t able to all things my friends could due to financial issues and upkeep of responsibilities. In addition to the pressure of school. It all came to boiling when I decided to attempt suicide. Thank God, I didn’t. And through the grace of God, I am here today as a metal advocate for my peers. I have influenced my peers through my book, my nonprofit organization, my clothing line, my school organizations, and soon as a candidate for councilman for district one of City of South Fulton.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not been easy. To this day, people still don’t support me, but I continue to push through regardless. I am known for being resilient and stubborn as an ox. When I have a goal to achieve, I will achieve it by any means necessary. I have financial barriers, racial barriers, etc.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with I Will Prosper – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I Will Prosper is a business that promotes mental health awareness and within the company we have have different subsidiaries. One being Prosper Clothing, a clothing line, and The I Will Prosper collection, a collection of books that I have written and will write soon. Our mission is to serve the community and we operate on the 3 p’s, Productivity, Persistent, Patience. The one thing we are proud of as a company is the support we get from the older demographic. The older generation is really invested in our mission and are looking to help out the youth. The one thing that sets us apart from others is how involved in the community we are. We get in the trenches. We lace up our boots. Being hands-on is one thing we do as a way to be closer to whoever we deal with whether it is a partnership or simply volunteering.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future are HUGE. MAJOR! Right now, I am preparing myself for candidacy for City Councilman. If I win, I will be the youngest serving on the council and I’ll be able to advocate at a higher level for my peers. I also have proposed an Education Reform. It was an attempt before to better schools, but in result made the situation worse. I was a student and on behalf of my peers, I will make sure that everyone K-12 has the best educational experience possible. I will make sure my peers are more college and career ready. Last but certainly not least, I am writing a book on the correlation between mental health, education, and the government.
