Meet Charmaine Reaves of Angels Are Networking in Duluth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charmaine Reaves.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Charmaine. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I believe God gave me a gift! And that gift is to connect people together and to share my knowledge. I am passionate about helping others! It gives me great joy and that is why I know that this is my calling. Creating Angels Are Networking, LLC is the manifestation of me walking in my purpose. Through my organization, I am offering others the opportunity to re-awaken their dreams, to find their purpose, to empower them to start their own business and to grow their net worth through growing their network!

After graduating from City College of NY, the same college former Secretary of State, General Colin Powell graduated from, I went to work @ IBM. I worked my way up from Programmer, thru Project Mgr and up to Executive Mgr, responsible for running IBM Global Services South East Region multi-million Project Support Offices customer contracts. I am fortunate to be able to use this training and experience from IBM to create and run Angels Are Networking, LLC.

My core value is to live a life of Good Character and Good Compassion! Good Character encompasses truth, honesty and integrity. Balance that with Good Compassion to love thy neighbor, show forgiveness and be kind to one another. Living my life with these two core values has resulted in my life being one filled with Peace, Joy and Contentment. I hope to inspire those who sees these results of Character and Compassion in me to also be blessed in these things as well.

In 2014, I got one of the most feared words in the whole world spoken to me. Cancer. After much tears, blame, and rejection of friends and God, I realized I could not survive without Jesus by my side. So I made my life the embodiment of these other words. Surrender. Bigger. Omnipotent. Fight. Warrior. Faith. Healed. Life. Several years later, I now am a testament that God healed me from breast cancer. Houses and cars and money and life can all be taken away in an instance. What is really important is Loving each other and Giving Back. And I am honored that one of the ways God is using me to show my love to others is through the launch of Angels Are Networking, LLC. If you were asking yourself, why is she doing this, offering free workshops, seminars, mixers and offering affordable memberships? This is your answer, nothing else is more important to me than walking in my purpose, and living what I have been called to do!

In addition to my giving back via the Angels Are Networking LLC Workshops, I also got involved in my favorite two cancer charities that I have been a part of since I was diagnosed in 2014. I think everyone should consider volunteering their time and/or treasure to help others in need.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. My biggest struggle in the beginning when I was trying to get launched was figuring out the family work-life balance. And even now, I still have not figured out how to do it. I remember last Christmas headed with my family on a ski trip to Pennsylvania, and working off my phone hotspot in the car the entire drive, just so that I can launch on time. My husband and sons were not happy campers. But I tried to make up for it by limiting my time working when we got to the hotel.

Currently, a big challenge is the event planning. I have learned that there are some people who will always RSVP and others who just won’t. I used to be in the group that would wait until the very last minute to respond, if at all, but now I have a good understanding of how important it is to RSVP, to assist the host with appropriate planning, setup & catering. Thats why I RSVP quickly, even if I am not sure about my availability to participate, I will now respond “Maybe” and if I know that I can’t possibly make it, I will go ahead and just say “No”. I encounter this every month, so it is a big deal and affects the effectiveness of the events. I have learned to appreciate the folks who RSVP and even follow-up if their plans changed. I don’t believe one can have too much communication.

The mission of Angels Are Networking, LLC is to help men and women find their true calling in life and to empower them to transform their passion into a business, and to grow their company, so they can experience fulfillment and achieve financial succe$$. NETWORKING MIXERS:
At the monthly Networking Mixers, which are always a lot of fun, including some karaoke nights, we usually have a guest speaker on a diverse range of topics. Such as Critical Thinking, Venture Capitalist, Public Relations, and more. The Mixers are usually held on a Saturday at the end of the month. We eat, we mingle and members may bring their products to setup a vendor table or display their services. And there is a lot of Power Networking; connections get made and clients get established. But most importantly, a community of sisterhood and brotherhood who supports each other is formed.

PURPOSE WORKSHOP
In addition to the Networking Mixer, the Purpose Workshop holds a very special place in my heart. Mainly because the focus is talking about God. This workshop connects people together to discover their life’s purpose. Through a combination of worksheets, books, blog and pastors, participants will learn how to find their Calling in life. The workshop is intended for all ages. Kids are stressed more than ever. Young adults still aren’t sure what they should be doing in life. Adults who have been working for several years, doctors, lawyers, project managers, realtors, have either let their dreams die or aren’t living what they were born to do. This is a place where men and women can begin the journey of exploring their purpose. No one is ever too old to begin!

NEW BUSINESS WORKSHOP
Once someone have discovered his or her purpose, this New Business Workshop will help and empower them to start their own business. I believe that having your own business is a step towards financial freedom. It doesn’t mean that you leave your job, but having your own business will give you financial security. It is important to have multiple streams of income! Fear is what stops people from starting their own business. Fear of failure, fear of friends and family laughing at them. But what if you were to replace fear with faith? What if you never fulfilled what you were made to do, would you be ok with that? And what if your business was not only successful but also fulfilling? You will never know the answer unless you take a chance.

At the workshop, you will have access to a Business Attorney and an Accountant to learn the tax benefits of owning your own business. You will also learn how to make a paradigm shift towards becoming financially independent using what RichDad PoorDad describes in his Lifestyle quadrant as E-B-S-I. This workshop will direct you to the steps required to create your tax EIN and legally register your new venture. You will get access to a checklist of steps to complete so you can get your business up and running!

ELEVATE YOUR BUSINESS MASTERMINDS WORKSHOP
Now that you have started your own business, it is time to take it to the next level. You can try to do it alone, or you can get further and get to the next level faster by working together with other business owners. People who have mentors and communities or cultures who help each other are more likely to succeed in their endeavors. This Elevate workshop will provide mentoring and advice to each member, and they will share challenges and growth opportunities. Ideas can be tested and critiqued. This workshop will provide a great referral opportunity both to find resources to help your business and customers to support your revenue stream.

I believe your network is your net worth and your net worth is your Network. Fortunately, your network is infinite and therefore you can grow your net worth to stratospherical success! The Masterminds Sessions are usually held at a business owner office or store. It is a safe place where you will get objective feedback and advice. The group of business masterminds will help to provide access to customers, tools, resources, business partners and investors. These sessions are invaluable to each and everyone who participates.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I moved from the New York area to Atlanta in 1995, shortly before the Olympics was held at Centennial Park. I have seen the city changed 20+ years later and it enables someone just starting out to be able to launch a business. In NY, the climate plays a part in not allowing folks to always get out and mingle, but here in Atlanta, the opportunities are endless to attend and meet others at various events.

This is true for Angels Are Networking, LLC in that there is a diversity of memberships across races and gender. And we have members from all across Georgia; Riverdale, Marietta, Atlanta, Decatur, Dacula, Alpharetta, Norcross, Johns Creek and even Macon.
