Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracey Brown.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Tracey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Life is funny. I have been a photographer all of my adult life, it’s what I studied in college, which eventually led to a successful full-time career as a wedding photographer. And then, things took an unexpected turn and I ended up feeling burnt out, retired from photography and got bit by the health and fitness bug. I started doing CrossFit in 2013, got addicted, ended up running 2 1/2 marathons and somehow was led to pursue a career as a Personal Trainer. Along the way, I developed a desire to help others, women specifically, discover fitness as a lifestyle and the importance of maintaining their health as a Personal Trainer.
But even that has developed into much more than just encouraging people to work out or eat healthier. I discovered that my true purpose is helping women who are stuck mentally, reclaim their health and more importantly, shifting their mindset. Mindset mastery has become the forefront of my approach with my clients. I incorporate mindset coaching along with the physical aspect of my coaching programs. I believe that you have to start with the right mindset in order to commit to any form of change. After being diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in 2016, my mindset was everything in how I was able to get through my treatment. At the end of it all, I realized that I didn’t even know my own strength. I want to help other women to discover their true strength as well.
It’s not rocket science. I just want women to feel good about themselves; mind, body, and soul.
Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not! Easy teaches you nothing. It takes a lot of patience and planning, along with the commitment to investing in your dream financially. This didn’t just happen. It was a few years before I finally realized my purpose, and during that time was a struggle emotionally, having no clue what I was going to do, now that I had retired from photography.
My advice to other women is to find a tribe of like-minded women. Find a group of women who are also in business, who will hold you accountable, a mentor – someone who is already where you aspire to be one day.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Tracey Denise Fitness story. Tell us more about it.
I specialize in helping women achieve their desired fitness and wellness goals through personal training, nutrition and mindset coaching. I am most proud of the positive impact that my story has on clients and even those who are not clients. After my cancer diagnosis, I questioned why this was happening to me. But, I realize now that it didn’t happen TO me, but FOR me so that I could help other women by showing them how to overcome their setbacks. I had to go through that to get clear on what my purpose is. I just want to be the kind of woman who inspires other women to want to up their game.
What sets me apart from others, is that my approach is based solely on mindset, stressing the importance of total wellness: mind, body and, soul. Fitness collectively is a lifestyle, not a quick fix and it begins from within. Before one Burpee or Push-up is programmed in a workout, I want to know how my clients even arrived at the point they are. This is where the life/mindset coaching comes in. A level of trust is created when clients can open up about other aspects of their life. It’s not all about cardio, or weights. Sometimes, we spend a workout not even working out but just talking.
Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
In my case, while I was studying for my PT certification, I used social media as a networking source to meet others in the industry. I was following some Personal Trainers on Instagram, reached out to them and asked to buy them coffee in order to ask questions about the industry, their experiences as trainers, etc. This is a good way to help determine if what you’re pursuing is really the right move.
