Today we’d like to introduce you to Shalonda “Treasure” Williams.
Shalonda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story is not so major to some but to others it is. I was born and raised in Savannah, GA as a little girl that was loved by her mother and siblings but who grew up without her biological father. I wasn’t at a total loss for a father figure, however. My mom had a man in her life that entered when I was at two years old and who remained until his death in 2016. He loved me but his time with us when we lived in the same house wasn’t as stable emotionally as it probably should have been. My mother was and still is a beautiful, God-fearing woman who endured much at the hands of the men she loved yet she raised me to overlook much and to depend on God to fight my battles for me. Over the years, the battles have been tough. Many would say that it was probably because of the father’s instability but I believe that it was more than that. My story is one of molestation, bullying, sexual addiction, mental illness, low self-esteem and a few more things that I’m pretty transparent about in this ministry that I’m called to. There is a verse in the bible that says, “All things work together for good to them that love God and who are called according to His purpose”. I believe that this is the sum of where I am now. All things about my past – good, ugly or indifferent – are working together so that I can use it all to help others to unmask and be liberated within.
Has it been a smooth road?
It indeed has not been a smooth road. Lol!! It hasn’t been all bad but, if I can be honest, I don’t remember as many good times as I do not so good ones. I can’t really pinpoint a whole lot of “happy” times for myself. It’s not that there weren’t any, I just can’t really remember them. The molestation started very early for me. At the age that I was I don’t think that I would have called it that because we were both young and curious. We tried things that I had only seen on TV but he, my older cousin, by four years, was the initiator. It wasn’t until one incident in particular that I felt strangely awkward and a little “dirty”, as we would call it today. These types of things made me more aware of this extreme desire for the attention of the male species. I did a lot to get it and that, in itself, caused the road to be tough for me. Being bullied came with that, feelings of unworthiness and a whole lot of shame and rejection too. My road has really been one of emotional and mental roughness if that makes sense. This most recent book speaks of many of these incidents, trials, and circumstances. “Nawww… I’m Not Ok” is a transparent look at just how things go sometimes and how it’s time out for pretending. It was rough but there is hope after liberation.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Nspirational Treasure International story. Tell us more about it.
My company is Nspirational Treasure International. This is the personal ministry of Prophetess Shalonda “Treasure” Williams. The ultimate goal is to open transitional homes for those without a permanent residence but as of now, we do our best to help prevent that situation by assisting, where we can, with rent assistance. Also, for those that are already out there, we help with hotel fees or blankets during the winter. The majority of the work we do now is in the area of spiritual empowerment. People would be surprised just how much going through true spiritual healing can aid in the fight against homelessness and so many other hardships. A lot of times people get down in their finances thus the situation of being without a home, but once they begin to be transformed by the renewing of their minds, it changes some things. Their living situation can be one of those things. So, we minister and love on people. We offer seminars, webinars, life coaching and books to help us aid them. We travel to cities and states across the U.S. to speak an inspired word from God to help bring about a turning back just as Christ did so long ago.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Ministry will ALWAYS be needed. Many may not see it now because there is such a great rebellion of sorts in our nation. But, having someone to teach and help lead you through the toughest times in life will always be necessary at some time or another. Things in the church seem to shift very often but the overall message and agenda still remain the same for me and many other ministers of the gospel.
