Meet Courtney Crosson of Coco Beats

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Crosson.

Courtney, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started when I walked into the MAC store in Birmingham, AL and they offered me a job on the spot to do makeup. I only did my own..absolutely loved it, but had so training. So I started as a freelancer for about two months, then they transferred me to Huntsville. I completely uprooted my life as I had known it. I had just left college where I was studying opera, moved home, was unsure of the next steps and then BOOM, a major plot twist. My whole career changed. So after moving to Huntsville, after a year and some change, I become manager. After another year. I decided to step out on faith and quit MAC and become a full-time makeup artist. So I went from a 9-5 to a 24/7. It was a CHALLENGE.

It is definitely not for the faint of heart. The ups and downs or finances will show you what you’re truly made of. But here I am! Still with a thriving clientele, moving into a new studio, building my brand, and expanding past makeup as well. When I moved to Huntsville, I became very involved with my church, All Nations Worship Assembly Huntsville. My passion for music was rekindled and I now am a worship leader. All things truly do work together, if you go with the flow of what life gives you!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not smooth! Its been a test trying to not quit, withstand all the test, learning your voice in the world, knowing AND owning your lane. It isn’t easy, but definitely worth it.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Coco Beats – what should we know?
My business is professional makeup artistry. I pride myself off of enhancing beauty that exudes from within. We are more than just pretty faces. My clients know that my business’s environment is uplifting and a safe please. No need to feel like anything less than who you are. I accept people differences and unique traits and capitalize on them through whatever they desire to look like.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I would like to thank all of my friends and parents for being my main voices of reason, that gave me advice even when I didn’t want to receive it but they’ve always had my best interests.
