Today we’d like to introduce you to Blair Monique Walker.
Blair Monique, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began singing when I was two years old. Everyone says I wouldn’t stop singing lol. As I got older, I started to write. It was just in my heart. I went to arts schools, studied music education in college and began singing with other artists. I also started my own graphic design business because I saw the need in my community at an affordable price. Helping people is my dream, that’s what I’m doing in music and business. I’m also an interior designer, barber, chef and branding manager. God gives me the grace to do it all.
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all! In fact, many days I felt like giving up. Especially when I was diagnosed with uterine cancer. I thought wow, do I even have a purpose? And my family threw me away because they never understood my call. One day, I looked at myself in the mirror and said “but if you give up, everyone you’re assigned to will die with you”. That changed the course of my life. I’m a walking miracle. I can’t quit! God healed me for a reason.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m most known for being a gospel artist and graphic designer. I’m proud of my music. My husband and I produce it and it’s everything I really want to say from my heart. My design company (BMoDesigns) is my baby. I’ve been able to help so many small businesses and artists present their brands in a professional way. It makes my heart smile.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see big shifts for everything I do. Technology is king and with the right tools, you can accomplish anything. As far as music, I’m just going to continue to speak my truth and whoever listens will be blessed.
