Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Bentley.
Jade was introduced to juicing in 2017 and she’s been a “Juice Addict” since! As a child, she was raised on the S.A.D, and that’s the American Standard Diet. 3D Doritos, Hug Juices, Minute Maid juice bars, you know, all the things kids eat in school and grab while grocery shopping with mom. Growing up as an athlete, and later running track on collegiate level, you would think she would stray away from the American Standard Diet but, you guessed it! It only became worse! Post-graduation, Jade began having breakouts and really bad acne with little to no knowledge of the cause. She never thought her acne was connected to the food or what she was consuming. At the age of 24, she was introduced to juicing and began to see an increase in her energy level, fewer to no breakouts, and better sleep, just to list a few! With the love for fitness and health, Jade knew how important phytonutrients, enzymes, and antioxidants were to the body but eating dark green leafy vegetables just was not her thing!
I’m sure you want to know, how did Jade become a juicing fanatic but didn’t care for leafy greens. Juicing is great because it’s simply concentrated nutrition. The average person is not going to sit down and eat five heads of raw kale on a daily basis. It won’t taste good and it won’t digest well. With juicing, you can simply put together three carrots, five heads of raw kale, two celery sticks, ginger, and apples and you’ll have a glass full of this antioxidant beverage that is not only healthy but convenient and delicious! Once she learned that she could drink a 16oz glass full of refreshing nutrients that her body lacked, she had to give others the opportunity and knowledge to do the same. A lightbulb went off when she visited California. Today, everyone is on what we refer to as the “Health Kick” or riding the “Health Wave”. As we know, fitness has always been popular and it’s not difficult to locate a gym but she couldn’t seem to think of any place that had a Juice Bar on every corner such as California. Jade was amazed by how accessible it was to grab this bottle full of nutrients.
Fast forward to today, Jade has started her very own, Fresh Pressed Juice company known as iJuice. It has definitely been a journey but every step has been well worth it. With more processed and packaged food becoming more accessible, Jade is on a mission to serve her community by building healthy relationships while offering a nourishing product that fuels the body. At iJuice, their vision is to empower each individual to become and maintain a healthy lifestyle through incorporating healthy choices as a part of their everyday life.
Has it been a smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? Definitely not! April 8, 2019 I made my first juice sale and May 20, 2019 I stepped out on faith and quit my 8-5. It took no time for the enemy to step in and make me feel like I made the worst decision of my life! I talk to God just as much as the typical person scrolls down their Instagram timeline so I knew the choice was best for me and I was on the right path. When I decided to quit my job, iJuice was in what I refer to as the “Hot Phase” meaning it was not difficult to make a sale. I come from a small town, Carrollton, GA where everyone knows each other and are related one way or another! The support was mind-blowing because it was something new. I made a lot of sales based off the strength of those who knew me and others were from the few who knew the health benefits of juicing. A couple of months went by and the “Hot Phase” was no longer a thing. I was no longer making sales based off who knew me, instead it was time for me to begin marketing my business and spreading the word. With no knowledge of being a full-time entrepreneur, this was extremely difficult and I quickly noticed that it was more than simply pouring juice into a bottle. This is when the struggles began to make an appearance!
By the time August came around, I found myself overcoming a financial situation, others will refer to as broke! I had no money. Orders was coming in which may sound great but the money I made from 5 juices were going towards fruit and vegetables to complete the next ten orders. What I didn’t notice before quitting my job is that I did not know how to manage money. When working under someone, you’re guaranteed to receive pay weekly or bi-weekly in most cases. Being a full-time entrepreneur, you no longer have that luxury and I seem to have missed that but was quickly reminded. There were plenty of tears and thoughts of applying for full-time positions but deep down, I knew my steps were ordered and all I had to do was put my trust in God.
As I mentioned, I am from Carrollton, GA where we are raised on the S.A.D and that’s the American Standard Diet. With that being said, juicing falls nowhere in the meal plan. I found it difficult to inform someone who was raised on deer meat, corn bread, fried okra, pinto beans, with a large sweet tea to replace that meal with a bottle of kale, cucumbers, parsley, apples, turmeric, and ginger. Can you imagine!! I began to realize, that was the beauty in juicing. I quickly fell in love with speaking to those who were unfamiliar and watching their reaction and most importantly, gaining their trust after juicing.
With struggles and losses, you have to take them as investments of what you’ve learned in life. Investments of what’s possible for you. There was a time where I encountered a major struggle and thought it was the end. After taking hit after hit, I couldn’t seem to look back on a situation that God has not brought me out of. When I realized that I couldn’t name a situation where God failed me and didn’t bring me out of, I know longer saw struggles the same. Although God has a funny way of showing us by allowing us to go through situation after situation, if we simply speak into ourselves, “I know I am growing through this, not going through this” I promise you’ll begin to look at struggles and losses as an investment of the possibilities in your life.
