Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabatha Bullock.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Tabatha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a makeup artist & licensed esthetician. I’ve been doing makeup for five years I started when I was 19 years old & a waitress at a sports bar it was required to be makeup ready EVERYDAY. That’s how I learned I went through every stage looking crazy (thinking I looked cute) trial & error until I actually became good practicing for two years I then started practicing on family & friends gaining my confidence, then I became REALLY good. It became my passion doing makeup is very therapeutic for me. I love it with all my heart. My business name The Melanin’Aire Collection came from me being natural & embracing my melanin. Instead of Millionaire, I AM The Melanin’Aire.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road. Some of the struggles I faced were finding my balance with working a part-time job & my dream job as a makeup artist & esthetician. Gaining & KEEPING clientele is hard work & determination. This is my dream, my passion, a GOAL. That I have overcome. I moved from Indianapolis IN to Atlanta, GA for this dream. I’m going to be big in Jesus name.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Melanin’Aire Collection story. Tell us more about the business.
My business is The Melanin’Aire Collection. It represents me. Anyone who knows me knows I wear an Afro. I am very confident in myself & in my look. It reflects in my work. What sets me apart from others is that. Makeup is my passion, I LOVE it. I care about my clients, I love enhancing their beauty, making their day. Making them feel more beautiful. I care about their skin! Which is why I went to school & today, I am also a licensed esthetician. Which is a skincare specialist.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck has played a part. I remember it was prom season I wanted to beat so many faces I checked my website every hour literally. I only had one booking BUT I was grateful for that. I did it with a smile on my face! Ready! The day after that someone canceled & I got another face to slay! I was also grateful for that. I played my part & luck was on my side.
