Meet Zariyah Littlejohn of 300 Minks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zariyah Littlejohn.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Zariyah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After I graduated high school, I tried to go to a four-year college. I ended up not being able to afford going off to college so I ended up going to a community college instead. I did one year and I didn’t go back.

My mama actually gave me the idea to do eyelash extension because at the time I didn’t know what they were. A good friend of mine had a cousin who was doing eyelash extensions at the time and I asked her could she train me if possible. I got certified in 2017 so it’ll be almost three years that I’ve been in business in March 2020. Right now I’ve been based in South Carolina but I still travel to Atlanta.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been very rough. Starting off I was just traveling to my clients at a dirt-cheap price because I couldn’t offer them the option of coming to me on top of me being a beginner. So starting off I was actually losing more than I was winning driving up to more than two hours to a client some days. I had to work factory jobs to support myself and still try to find the time to do lashes. Over these few years, I’ve went from traveling to clients, to have them come to me without the option of me traveling. Now my clients can book me to come to them if necessary or they can come to me.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I do eyelash extensions. I do classic, hybrid, Russian volume, and mega-volume eyelash extensions. I’m mostly known for how full my sets are & my bottom eyelash application. I am proud of my volume sets because of how much I’ve invested in myself to learn from some great lash techs and I didn’t let it go to waste. My clientele has grown tremendously since I’ve started and the fact that I still have people who’ve been with me for 2+ years says a lot to me.

What were you like growing up?
I was very outgoing as a child. Things that I was interested in as a kid don’t even match the path that I’m on now. I actually thought I would be a movie director instead.
