Today we’d like to introduce you to Selina Taylor.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up with a very health-conscious mother. She limited my sister and I’s consumption of sugary drinks, soda, candy, and processed foods, even over the counter medicines. She always went the natural route whenever she could. I grew up on home-cooked meals and clean snacks more than half of my adolescent years.
I still, of course, had my fair share of skittles, Tahitian Treat, chips and hot sauce, and hot Cheetos. However, it was so normal for me to bring a to-go container of fresh pineapples or sliced apples to 2nd and 3rd period of high school for mid-day snacks or try and make smoothies for breakfast so I wasn’t starving because I didn’t allow myself enough time for a table breakfast.
I eventually adopted that healthy or mindful eating mindset as I built a home and family of my own. And, although being a working mom, I made health a priority for my family. My partner has always been supportive of how I try to regulate the processed food and sugar our family intakes. I’ve had my share of commercial blenders, Ninja’s, and juicers. But the gift that changed everything was my juicer. My daughter is three and we have reached that stage where veggies look and taste “yucky” to her and dinner time is a battle if it’s not snacks galore. Juicing allowed me to ensure that for breakfast or lunch or even both she received that recommended daily vegetable and fruit serving she needs to nourish her growing mind and body.
From creating juices and sharing my recipes via IG story, I began to get inquiries and lots of traction about my handcrafted juices and with patience and reflection, I realized that not only should I serve the gift of veggies and fruit to my family; I can share the benefits of increased fruit and vegetable consumption with other children and adults who are looking to prioritize their health by drinking HumbleBee Juice-Cocktails allowing them to receive the nutrients our bodies need and deserve the fastest and most beneficial way.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Creating a brand and company has been by far the most challenging passion project I have ever committed to. The entire process has been challenging and extremely humbling, but it has been a journey of self-discovery. I faced most of my bumps in the road in the beginning stage trying to convince myself that I had something worth manifesting beyond the pages of my journals and notebooks. I have always had a fear of attaching my name to something or selling something – all in fear that it wouldn’t be successful or received well from others.
It wasn’t until I let go of that fear and extended myself some grace to not make my goal perfection but to take my time and trust that I had something the world needs and could benefit positively from did the bumps in the road feel less detrimental to the journey, but more of a learning break.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I’m still getting started but I’m proud that I got started. What I remind myself daily is that this is a passion that manifested organically, take my time, be patient with myself and understand that as long as my vision and hopes for HumbleBee as a company remain genuine the RIGHT consumers with gravitate and will be patient with me.
