Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Hughes.
Tasha, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was driving along side a gaming bus that targeted boys and I thought to myself that there wasn’t anything similar catering to girls. From that moment, an idea sparked to create a Spa party bus for girls. I did a little research and realized that there wasn’t anything like this in Atlanta. I began shopping for shuttle buses and looking for a company that could build the inside exactly how I envisioned it. Once the bus was complete I started to promote my business on social media and I took advantage of most of the festivals in the Atlanta area. Thankfully, due to promoting, Google and word of mouth we have been pretty busy making girls smile one party at a time.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It wasn’t a smooth road, Challenges such as, finding a secure place to park the bus that has access to water, realizing that one air unit wasn’t enough on a 95 degree summer day in Georgia, the bus not starting minutes before it’s time to go to a party. Also, finding a young lady that is comfortable with driving a vehicle that big, That’s just to name a few. The challenges are necessary, they’ve allowed me the opportunity to improve.
Please tell us about your business.
Pretty Pink Party is a Spa Party Bus for girls between the ages of 4-12. We bring the party to our customers. We specialize in birthday parties, school events and festivals. We have a variety of themes such as Rockstar, Rip the Runway, Princess, etc. Our parties are more than just manis and pedis, It is a way for girls to express and enhance their inner and outer beauty in a childlike environment. All while engaging in activities designed to boost confidence, communication skills and team building. I am most proud of the response we get from our customers. Children are genuinely easy to please but the feedback from their parents validates what we do as a company. They are always impressed because they haven’t seen anything like it. The fact that we are a mobile kids spa sets us apart from others. Though we cater to children the parents are always just as thrilled.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
The memory that stands out the most would be, styling my first client at the age of 10. I remember being confident and sure I could provide the service and excited to show off what I could do. Without batting an eye, I jumped right into it. Before I knew it I was done and anxious to see my client’s reaction to my work. Needless to say, she was pleased. It gave me a sense of pride and passion to develop as a stylist.
