Meet Eden Bowen

My Mom has always been an entrepreneur and a creative person so I want to follow in her footsteps. But literally, the story of how I started was so simple! I was at my dad’s house and while I was taking a trip to the kitchen, my aunt stopped me and asked me would I like to start my own business And if so, what would it be? Not really thinking about it, I said sure, why not! So, we sat down at our living room table and thought about what I should do and what the name of my business should be, etc. Since I’m mixed with African American and Panamanian, my hair texture is very unique. It’s very thick, curly, wavy and needs lots of moisture and attention. I spend a lot of time doing my hair, especially my edges. I think your edges complete the hairstyle especially when you have the right product that can really hold it down in any weather or activity. I’ve tried a lot of edge controls but nothing worked for me. So, I thought about edge control based on what I needed and that’s how it all began. Then, we thought about the name and I really wanted my name to be in the title so we decided on Edges by Eden.After that, I took the idea to my Mom and she was completely on board and we began to set up everything for the business!

No, not at all but it’s all good! I’ve had good days and bad days but I don’t let that stop me from being successful. However, I would say my main struggle is believing in myself for the most part. Sometimes, it can get overwhelming with school, getting good grades, having time for friends and starting a business. Some days I want to say, never mind I don’t want to do it anymore then other days I am determined to make it work. I really am grateful for my Mom and aunt because they help me a lot with my business, coming up with creative ideas and helping me make good decisions on what to do next. Since I’m young people just think I’m cute but they really don’t know how serious I am about being a successful entrepreneur. I’m also concerned about keeping up with social media, like getting more followers, getting more sales and branching out into new territory’s in the hair care business.

Edges by Eden started out selling edge control. Our edge control is great because it really is good for all hair types. It’s non flaking, non greasy and has a super hold like no other edge control you’ve tried! It really can last up to 2 days without a touch up! Also, a little goes a long way and it works wonders on natural hair. That is our main focus but recently we have launched out into making organic and natural edge and hair growth serum. The growth serum is really special because me and my mom researched for a long time on what makes our hair grow best without chemicals. It took a while to come up with the perfect ingredients but we tested it and tried it out on family and friends and we have the perfect growth serum that grows your hair fast. It’s also a great moisturizer as well as great oil for protective hair styles. We also started our branded clothing line with hoodies, t-shirts and edge wrap scarves. A lot of people really like my logo and wanted clothing items with the logo on it, so we started making those too. We’re also developing a hair wax stick called EBE slick stick, that’s coming soon! But my main product is edge control.What I’m most proud of is having a really great team of supporters like my mom, my aunt, my dad, and a supportive family who’s always first in line to order my products. Also, I want to give a special shout out to my first brand ambassador Deseree Blackman the Growth Goddess.and my church family at Kingdom Living Ministries and friends. I’m so grateful to God to have these people around me who encourage me everyday.

What sets me apart is that I’m young and I have a passion to succeed. I have great examples around me, I’m determined and I love being an entrepreneur!
