Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. T. Anderson Ph.D.
Dr. T., can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a product of Corporate America not being a “comfortable” environment! Discomfort always leads to GROWTH! Get “uncomfortable” Kings and Queens!
After pursuing careers in my field for over 18 years, I realized I was not comfortable in Corporate America! I am grateful and very appreciative of the knowledge and experience received during my tenure in corporate environments, however, I always knew that would not be where my story ended.
I would describe myself as a serial entrepreneur, as well as a business consultant and an author who has built up an unrivaled combination of knowledge and understanding of the business sector over an established career. I am motivated to serve the wide world of entrepreneurship through this experience and business consultancy. In terms of my professional credentials, I acquired a degree from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor’s in business administration, I hold a degree in Respiratory Therapy, and I am a certified grant writer/manager (experienced in Federal Grant Management). I’m most known for my love for people and because of that, my clients always connect with me because they know I genuinely care. I continuously train on subject matter daily to share new and innovative information with my clients. The more I learn and retain, the more they learn, grow and save!
I am proud to say that I am always looking for the next big opportunity that I believe will serve my wider community. Back in 2016, I was invited by the National Crown Tour Women’s Conference to be a guest professional speaker. I also performed this same role at the recent Be Beautiful Be You Girls Empowerment Day Camp. Not only this, but I also authored an E-book based around the entrepreneurial tactics & strategies needed for success, titled ‘The Universal Millionaire Entrepreneurship & Finances Full Circle’. In 2017, I was blessed to be named as a Who’s Who of Black Dallas Entrepreneur Honoree. I have acquired a great deal of acclamation, credit & recognition for my contributions to the entrepreneurial world.
I am proud to be an enigmatic professional speaker & business coach who delivers insights related to the world of entrepreneurship & finance.
If I have one objective, it is to prepare the next generation of entrepreneurs by passing on my vast knowledge and experience.
Has it been a smooth road?
No one who is or ever has been successful got there via a smooth road. That simply is not how the journey works. In fact, it is the bumps along the way that mold you into the brilliant mind that can then become a success. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your dreams; however, I have personal experience and have worked with many entrepreneurs to know that it’s not always an easy road. Perseverance, persistence and consistency are several keys to success. I’ve been divorced, a single mother, a victim of domestic violence. What doesn’t kill you makes you STRONGER! We don’t know how strong we are until strength is all we have! Sometimes your worst battles create the best you!
EVERYTHING is MINDSET. In modern society, women are the gel that holds a family together, making work-life balance the absolute key. Not only this but working as a woman in a male-dominated industry comes with its own challenges. For example, less than 3% of venture capital companies have female CEOs. It is important to always stay motivated against your struggles and those who try to hold you back. Know your vision, know your worth, and constantly give yourself the gift of change along the way. Become better every day! Accept and be accountable any losses and learn from all lessons!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am currently leading a number of distinctive and exciting ventures in business consultancy, grant writing, and graphic designing and more. Back in 2005, I founded Millionaires Grant Writing, working not only as the owner but as a grant writer and manager too. I then followed this successful venture up with the Universal Millionaire Consulting Group. In 2011, I opened a Dallas-based firm by the name of Millionaires Web Design, aiming to develop top-quality website content and graphics. One of my most popular ventures to date is Millionaires Tax Consultants, a rather niche and impressive business. I am an experienced investor and founder in the real estate company, Universal Millionaire Realty Group. Finally, I am the acting founder and CEO of The Universal Millionaire Mind-frame, which I see as a one-stop-shop for anything related to business success. What’s next for me you ask?
As founder of Millionaires Can – A non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to serve the community by creating opportunities for the lean entrepreneurs of tomorrow. My future plans include growing this organization and impacting the world!
I have served a great deal of time volunteering for numerous non-profit organizations such as TangoTab, Heart of Experian and more. I focus my charitable contributions mainly on national disasters, domestic violence, land preservation & conservation, education, bio-science, and technological research.
I am continuously encouraged & fortified by the drive to change this world for the better, I will forever be a strong believer in community services and I love giving back to the community and working for the greater good of the public.
Stay tuned!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Absolutely!
Atlanta is booming with growth! Atlanta’s population is growing rapidly. Atlanta is the fastest-growing urban area in the country. Talent is now being attracted from all over the WORLD! The city’s growth and identity in recent years have made it one of the country’s best places to start a new business! In the South, Atlanta has definitely become an attractive place for entrepreneurs! It has a low cost of living for new businesses that have limited financial resources. Atlanta has a very convenient transportation system due to Atlanta being home of the world’s busiest airport making business travel easy and affordable. Atlanta is home of many available tech hubs. Home of a diverse talent pool, Atlanta is home to some of the most advanced universities in technology and bio-science degree programs, such as Georgia Tech, Emory University, and Georgia State University. In fact, Georgia Tech has one of the oldest business incubators in the country: the Advanced Technology Development Center, a startup accelerator that has helped launched more than 130 companies. Graduates of these top universities end up residing in the area and contribute to Atlanta’s business growth.
Here are a few things to think about as you enter Atlanta as an aspiring entrepreneur!
Find your niche.
Your niche is your lifeline.
Build a network. (Your network is your net worth)
In a metropolitan area like Atlanta, making effort to acquire a professional network builds awareness for your business and connects you to the city’s movers and shakers, who can help provide advice and support.
Learn the landscape
Consider physical locations. Although remote & virtual entities are becoming popular, a real estate agent can provide information on growing affluent areas.
Sales & Marketing (This determines whether you win or lose)
Who are your potential customers in ATL? How will you get their attention and convert them into buyers?
People and Partnerships (people make the world go around)
What roles will you need to hire and what professional relationships will you need to form in order to succeed? This works hand in hand with building your network.
Proper Financial Planning (failure to plan is a plan to fail)
How many clients or sales will you need in order to break even? How much money will it take to get there, and where will you get the funding?
Choose the Right Business Idea (always surround it around your passion)
The first step toward business ownership is deciding what kind of business to start. Look for an idea that suits your interests, your personal goals, and your natural abilities. What is hot and profitable in ATL?
Plan Your Business (failure to plan is a plan to fail)
Successful businesses are built through careful planning. Before committing a significant amount of money and other resources toward your business, critically analyze your idea and create a game plan.
Form your Business Properly
Registering your company as a Georgia business entity, such as an LLC or a Corporation, has two major advantages:
• Increased credibility
• Protection from personal liability in the event your business is sued
Secure your Domain (Your brand is your life)
I recommend that you check to see if the business name you are planning is available as a web domain. Even if you aren’t ready to make a business website today, you may want to buy the URL in order to prevent others from acquiring it.
Register for Taxes
With limited exceptions, most businesses require an employer identification number, also known as a Tax ID Number. An EIN is used to identify a business in its federal tax filings. Without an EIN, you can’t hire employees or open a business bank account.
Create Business Banking and Credit Accounts
Using dedicated business banking and credit accounts is essential for personal asset protection. When your personal and business accounts are mixed, your personal assets (your home, car, and other valuables) are at risk in the event your business is sued.
Set Up Accounting
An accounting system helps you track the performance of your business and simplifies annual tax filings. Quality accounting software lets you download your bank and credit card transactions, making accounting fast and easy.
Obtain Permits and Licenses
To operate your new business legally, you will need to comply with federal, state, and local government regulations. In many cases, this involves obtaining one or more business permits and/or licenses.
Get Insured
Business insurance helps you manage risks and focus on growing your business.
As a business hub, Atlanta is brimming with talented entrepreneurs starting businesses, so make sure to carve out your place!
There is always room for improvement, growth, and expansion! Atlanta definitely has the formula, is on the move and thriving!
NOW LET’S KEEP GROWING KINGS AND QUEENS!
