Meet Lily Martinez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lily Martinez.

Lily, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was in Highschool I was just like most students at that time and was obsessed with social media, Twitter and Instagram to be exact. At 16 little did I know I could have a job in the media/entertainment world without being an actress. Fast forward to 2016/2017ish I started college as a communications major transferred and quit playing division II lacrosse and started working for my self by accident. After an old company I worked for reached out to me to do media work for them I realized that I had talent than just posting and getting thousands of likes on my social media post. Alma Media was started almost by accident but I’m glad my little company is here and here to stay.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth start at all. After high school I posted so much on my Instagram and became an “influencer” from that I received much criticism by many people I grew up with. The only person that was always on my side was my mom and dad. My mom was always willing to take do anything she could to help me. With my company Alma Media, it has also been a hard road to navigate. Many people find out that I am only 21 and still in college and feel like I am not qualified since I am still in college. But I have been marketing and learning about social media since 2016 so I have over four years of experience at 21 years old. And to this day I am growing and learning new marketing tricks or new applications to help me and my clients.

Please tell us about your work.
I am an Instagram “influencer” and own my own Social Media Marketing/Management company. With my company Alma Media, I help companies either start their social media pages, brand themselves as well as rebrand themselves as well, and honestly anything social media-wise. I also am a virtual assistant which I help individuals with either company tasks or individual tasks like booking a flight or responding to emails. I am most proud of the fact that during my first year of business I had size clients, which was crazy to me! I never imagined that during my first year! What sets me apart is the fact that I am so young and people trust me to work with them until they are happy with the results. My clients aren’t just clients at the end of the day I treat them as friends and family.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
The proudest moment of my career so far as an Instagram influencer is having Sephora reach out to me and ask me to work with them on a sponsored post! I honestly cried as I read their DM! For Alma Media, my biggest moment was seeing how strangers supported me more than certain people who had been in my life for a long time!
