Meet Jared Harrison of Jared Michael Design Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Harrison.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
So I’ve been a fan of art for as long as I can remember. It’s amazing how God gifted me with artistic abilities back then that would help me out now in my career. Of course then, I had no clue what was going on. God just layered my life with people, things, events that are the driving force for how I create. I loved to paint, draw, write stories, music, design shirts, slideshows, clothes, etc. not realizing that one day I would be doing it professionally.

I recently graduated college with a BFA in Graphic Design from Auburn University at Montgomery. It was the toughest thing I have ever chose to do. It was an amazing feeling to finish because it showed me I can do ANY thing I put my mind too. I wanted to start a career in clothing design and styling. After coming in contact with a few strangers who saw my design work, they definitely pushed me to pursue a job in graphic design. A year later, I am thoroughly enjoying it and wouldn’t want it any other way.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I always think if its a smooth road, the bumps and obstacles are close ahead. The biggest struggle is keeping up with how fast pace this digital age is and constantly posting whether I have bookings or not. Another obstacle was sticking to my plan and not letting others doubt and concerns sway me from it. The biggest challenge as a designer is creating something that we as designers like, but the clients and our audiences don’t get. It can be frustrating because we come up with these concepts and designs and can’t use the things we like to appease the client’s desires.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Jared Michael Design Co. story. Tell us more about the business.
I am Jared Michael, the lead graphic designer at Jared Michael Design Co. I specialize in modern, bold and dynamic designs for various things, people and occasions. My favorite is album promotion and packaging. I am most proud of the clientele I have been blessed with in the past year. What sets me apart from others is that I really try to incorporate things I don’t see others doing much of like showing the design in its proper environment, with movement and creating scenarios for clients to be able to visualize their designs. I love creating an experience for clients and my following. Some people are not creative, so it’s hard for them to think this way, and I’m lucky to have the opportunity to give them that experience.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
This is a tough one because I think about how far it has come in the last ten years. Everything is digital now. Everything needs awesome graphics. The trends are ever-evolving, just like fashion. One thing I can definitely say is a good design will be just as dynamic and appreciated now as it will be 25 years from now. I honestly think more will be 3D and more interactive. Flyers and still images will have way more movement to create more of an experience instead just some post on social media.
