Today we’d like to introduce you to William kpahe.
William, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The main reason why I got into personal training and decided to take it to the next level was unfortunately due to the loss of loved ones in my family. At a young age I lost my father to 3 strokes and an uncle to a heart attack. Since then, I vowed to do my best to influence family member, friends, or anyone that I came in contact with to live a healthy and active lifestyle. I never wanted to see another loved one leave this earth early due to habits that would lead to obesity and chronic disease. These events happened at a pivotal time of my life as I was graduating from high school and about to embark on my college career. It wasn’t hard for me to choose my exercise science major. I knew choosing this path would help broaden my understanding of the body’s physiology, and help me develop great exercise plan that will be beneficial to my clients. On top of that, being an athlete made the transition from playing soccer and swimming to the personal training world a smooth one. I could now utilize the knowledge I had as an athlete and apply it towards what I learned in school. This route led to me owning my own gym redemption fitness, and now I have the opportunity to serve my clients and help them achieve the results they want.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
So far it has been pretty rough, but I believe that every startup or company in the beginning will have those struggles. It’s about learning what works and doesn’t work. One thing I believe will help the company is using social media to attract more clients. On our part that means reaching out to people and posting more valuable content that people need. That will inevitably attract more clients.

As a personal trainer, I offer different services. One on one session and group training session that include HIIT training, power lifting, cardio, abs, plyometrics, and I usually like ending with a good stretch. A model that caught my attention in college that I implement with my clients is the transtheoretical model. To simply put it, it’s about focusing on the client ability to progress on to the next training phase. Which could mean increasing reps, or sets, and building new health habits. Every client is different so it’s about gaging their readiness in moving on to the next step. I want to instill belief in them. We all heard the proverb “Whatever a man thinks, so is he”, so it all starts with the mind. Once my clients believe they can achieve the goals, the rest is left to the plan that I set out for them to follow. I am thankful for the lives that I have been able to impact and looking forward to all the lives I will be able to touch and make a difference in. Redemption-Fitness is a faith-based personal training company and our goal is to serve people from every walks of life.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Having more confidence in myself, and putting a lot of effort into understanding and learning how to run a business before getting starting one.
