Today we’d like to introduce you to Wayne Mann, Bryce Denton and Denise Mann
Thanks for sharing your story with us Wayne , Bryce and Denise. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Wayne and Denise Mann, owners of HeliCam Aerial Media Services started their aerial cinematography business back in 2004. Our main goal was to become one of the most sought out aerial video companies out there and also provide the best and most professional service for our clients.
In the beginning , Wayne started out building custom made, remote control UAV systems (octocopters) and custom made camera mounts because nothing else was available.
Over the years , we have put in many years of blood, sweat and tears to get excellent aerial footage even in windy conditions. It is amazing how technology has changed in the last 16 years and how many different remote control helicopters and UAV systems Wayne has made through the years to get to where we are today. Now we have camera mounts capable of turning 360 degrees and mounts that can carry the Alexa Mini , Red Epics and now our custom made spotlights.
We feel so lucky to have Wayne’s 35 years as a professionally paid remote control pilot and to be able to have turned HeliCam into a thriving business where we travel all over the world and meet many new clients who become our friends.
HeliCam is comprised of three, very skilled individuals ,who are very accomplished in their respective fields and have a passion for cinematography, creative camera movements and aviation.
Wayne is a highly skilled and accomplished remote control helicopter and airplane pilot. He has been flying remote control aircraft since 1975 and competing in competitions since 1981. He has won over 500 competitions in precision aerobatics with airplanes and helicopters. Wayne has been on every united States world championship helicopter team since 1991. Wayne also holds his private pilot certificate.
Bryce Wilder Denton is our creative aerial director of photography. Bryce brings amazing amount of talent to our team in every aspect imaginable, from collaborating with difficult clients to making our aerial imagery jump off the screen. A perfect example of Wayne and Bryce’s magic would be on the feature film “Uncle Frank” and the new spin off “The Walking Dead .”
Bryce is also a perfection like Wayne ,which means they compliment each other.m in every aspect imaginable.
We consider Bryce true family to us and we feel very fortunate to have him on board at HeliCam to bring us to the next level. We would not want anyone else to be by outside, but him.
Now third part of the team, Denise Mann. Denise is our visual observer and safety officer on set.
She has been part of our company since inception. Denise passed the Private Pilot Airmen Knowledge test back in 2015 to meet the requirements of being a VO for of the FAA .
She absolutely loves her job and always puts the clients needs first, unless it compromises safety .
Denise does all the Social Media, PR and marketing work for HeliCam as well. She retired as a very successful realtor after 12 years where she acquired her Salesman and her Brokers license.
She was salesperson of the year for 10 years at Old South Homes.
She has never met a stranger!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, not at all. It has been very challenging to say the least. We have had two rough years 2015 and 2019.
In 2015 , the FAA came out with very strict drone requirements where the pilot in charge had to acquire a 333 exemption and obtain a private pilot certificate all in the same year.
These requirements stalled HeliCam for 7 months.
In 2019, our World got turned upside down in many ways.
Denise had two major surgeries , Wayne father suffered a stroke in NC and Denise’s step dad and mentor passed away.
For 3months, we were trying to work in Atlanta while being 24 hour care givers to Wayne’s dad.

HeliCam Aerial Media Services specializes in stunning aerial cinematography, in which we employ various types of drones. We have the three Custom built heavy lift drones, the Alta 8 drone, Inspire 2 with the X7 camera and now introducing 3 spotlight drones.
We are most proud of our safety record and the type of aerial footage we can provide. Wayne Mann, our chief pilot and owner of the company, can create almost anything drone-related. Also, with his 35 years of flying remote control aircraft, he can provide outstanding aerial movements with drones and he has a harmony with his cameraman Bryce Denton like no other drone company out there.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
We would have to say move to Atlanta alot sooner and be under the mentorship of a person like, Herb Kossover.
