Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Das.
Vanessa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been into skincare and taking care of myself. It just never dawned on me to create my own product. I’ve tried many different professions and none of them ever stuck to me. They didn’t drive me out my bed in the morning excited to seize the day or keep me up late at night thinking and planning how big this could be. Moving back home with my family, I already knew I wanted to start my own skincare company. The issue was I’m very indecisive sometimes and I didn’t know in which direction to go. Being around my family sparked my passion and my “ Why “ it became my internal drive for creating my plant-based 100% organic formula.
One day my mother and I went to Sephora to get her some foundation and when we were trying to match her skin tone with a foundation and it became clear to me that my mother wasn’t confident in her skin. My mother had a bad chemical outbreak from using a cosmetic brand that left her skin with dark spots and uneven skin tone which led her to never leave the house without makeup. So I began to research which natural ingredients help with dark spots and evens skin tone. I had my own acne problem at that moment so I kept researching ingredients that would make an all in one skin package.
A product that is made for all skin types has anti-aging properties, helps heal acne, eczema, dark spots, whiteheads, smooths skin, moisturize, evens skin tone, nourishes the skin and caters to sensitive skin. I came up with my first product called Essential and it does that and even more. My mother has been using Essential for about three months and her skin has healed remarkably just the other day she thanked me because now she doesn’t feel the need to wear makeup when she leaves the house. It makes me feel so good to see her confidence in her skin and I cant wait to see how great she’ll look in the next months to come. My goal is to help others to gain their confidence back and keep a smile on your face when it comes to skincare. We should all be comfortable and love the skin we’re in!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Entrepreneurship is like a roller coaster ride when you first start out. You’ll have your days that you’re super pumped & confident about your business and your journey and some days you might question if you can really accomplish this goal you set for yourself. I always try not to keep those kinds of thoughts in my mind too long. I feel like you always have to stay positive even if you can’t see how you’re going to get there just make sure that you keep taking steps to get there.
My advice for young women would be to never give up on yourself and find what you love to do what truly makes you happy. I’ve had three different businesses before I found what I’m really passionate about. It’s doesn’t matter what other people think it’s your life and your happiness.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Echelon Beauty story. Tell us more about the business.
I’ve created my own skincare company called Echelon Beauty. I’ve been working on my first product Essential for about seven months. It took a lot of research and it’s made with lots of love. I can’t wait to expand my brand and my products. My product is 100 percent organic plant based made for all skin types and caters to sensitive skin. My business has been running for about a couple months now I launched on New Years.
I would say I’m most proud of making it this far because it all started from me writing this idea down on a notepad into a full-blown business. Also, I love hearing all the positive feedback about Essential. It really makes me happy. I feel what sets me apart from other organizations is I really care about what ingredients are in my product I love that it’s 100 percent organic with no harsh chemicals & it’s literally made with love, my motto is “ Do all things with LOVE! “ Echelon Beauty is literally my baby. I’m a perfectionist I care about helping others & my product works.
Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Yes, having a mentor is key in life, whether you’re starting your own business or just needing advice in general. Having someone who can help guide you along the way is very helpful. Also, I google a lot and watch videos on YouTube, you can learn a lot about business and marketing by searching the web and it’s free.
