Meet Mesita Partridge of Ivory Bridal in Grant Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mesita Partridge.

Mesita, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Ivory Bridal was always a dream since college. The dream was fueled after I got married because I couldn’t find a wedding dress to go over my hips. Most bridal shops have smaller sample sizes which meant I couldn’t try on the curve hugging silhouette that I wanted. From there I knew I was destined to open a boutique for curvy girls! We are almost 5 years strong and I am overwhelmed from all of the support and multiple opportunities that we’ve had to dress curvy brides from Atlanta and all over the country!

My Mantra:

When I wake up in the morning the very first thing I do is give thanks for seeing another beautiful day. After that, a girl needs her coffee.

My heart glows when my gorgeous baby boy Maxim smiles at me and says ma-ma. My heart breaks whenever he makes his sad face.

My customers are my everything. More than anything else, I care about helping them feel absolutely stunning on their wedding day.

In my world, a fabulous lipstick (Flat Out Fabulous or Ruby Woo by Mac) is an absolute necessity. Having a pretty cocktail is always a fabulous idea. Always following the rules is overrated and being untrustworthy is a definite no. Fantasizing about Idris Elba is totally reasonable.

Striving for success in all that I do is a must, but at the end of the day my tall, sexy husband and the most beautiful baby boy in the world is all that really matters.

When I die, I want to be remembered as a person who made brides feel gorgeous, have a son and husband who loved me to the moon and back, and that you’d never know when I was having a bad day because I always looked FABULOUS! I want them to say that she inspired others to always think positively, to never give up on their dreams, and when the going gets tough all you have to do is smile and pray.

Has it been a smooth road?
My biggest struggle was learning to outsource the things that I am not that great at. As an entrepreneur, you wear many hats. I wore hats that I shouldn’t have because I thought I couldn’t afford it! The biggest lesson I learned and that I now pass on to other aspiring entrepreneurs is that you can’t afford not too! Hire a CPA, hire someone to do your social media, hire someone to help with graphic design, etc. Focus on what you are great at and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Ivory Bridal is Atlanta’s only full service bridal shop for curvy girls. We have the prettiest gowns for brides with curves! Our samples start at a size 12 and go up to a 32. The typical bridal shop has samples in a size 10, and the average woman is a size 14. We saw a need in the industry and we are happy to fill it. Our brides are so grateful that we have beautiful gowns in their size. We are overwhelmed with the positive response and look forward to helping many more brides find their dream dress.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, Atlanta is great. There are quite a few bridal shops in the area. The key is finding your niche and being the best at it.
