Today we’d like to introduce you to Gym Brown.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Gym. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started lifting weights at 15 years old in an attempt to lose some weight and build confidence. I was teased in school a lot about my weight and wanted to break out of it. After slimming down some, I continued to pursue an even better body as I had come to love the process; this carried on through my military career. When I returned home from Iraq in 2009, I decided to study exercise at Concordia University and began to compete in weightlifting. I’ve been compelled to share my knowledge and experiences with all that welcome it ever since. I love the lifestyle.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is an emotional roller coaster. While struggling with PTSD and depression, weightlifting served as an outlet from my own head. Coming home to my family suffering from health issues, cancer striking my sister, my father is suffering from kidney and lung complications, I wanted to learn as much as I could to be of assistance in the restoration of my loved one’s health. Using the tools and knowledge I learned from school, I began to implement a healthier lifestyle for my family, making better food choices, and being more active.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
