Today we’d like to introduce you to Joan Wright-Good.

Joan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
JWG Publishing House started in 2008 when I wrote my first book. I had just experienced one of the toughest times in my life, and for sanity’s sake, I decided to write about it. I had no clue then that my story mirrored the story of many other women who were suffering in silence or that I was about to transform lives. In 2012 I decided to write another book, this, a little different, it wasn’t about pain or adversity. This was about, celebrating and accepting who you are, whether you are accepted by others or not – the book is called ‘You are different for a Reason – Maxime your difference’. You can purchase it on my website joanwrightgood.com, on Amazon and on Barnes & Noble. In the book, I introduced to readers, the concept of leveraging the parts of you, which makes you different.

After publishing my first book ‘From Brokenness to Victory – The price of my breakthrough, I had several people who would ask me about the ‘How, Why, Where of publishing.’ Of course, by the time I did book two, the questions grew to ‘can you help me to publish a book too?’ In business, we know that once someone brings a problem to your attention, you either solve it for a fee or source the solution. I decided to solve it by starting the JWG Publishing House. The demand for my expertise was evident, hence I had to supply.

Has it been a smooth road?
Hahaha, a simple yet loaded question. Business has been amazing. I have two companies, I have a Business Startup & Marketing firm in Florida which is the parent company for the Publishing House. The operation of the parent company has been pretty smooth, I have had a few bumps in the road with the publishing company but they were nothing major or detrimental. I love my clients, I love what I do and I love bringing value and education to the masses.

When the opportunity came up to expand in Georgia, I had no idea what to expect with planting a branch of the Publishing Company here. During the process of making that decision, we were invited to partner with a major brand that invited us to use their locations for free for monthly pop-ups and book signings. We took them up on the offer last year and hosted a pop up in Camp Creek. We also just completed another event pop up in Buckhead called the Good Life Global Tour.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think Atlanta is the capital of entrepreneurial wealth. I believe in a few years from now, instead of seeing so many ‘made in China’ labels, we’ll start seeing ‘made in Atlanta.’ When you are just starting out, it may be a little intimidating or overwhelming because the city is so huge, but I believe once you connect with the right people and learn the culture, you will do great here.
