Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Berk.
Jessica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I first realized just how important sleep was when I wasn’t getting any of it after the birth of my first daughter. I just assumed that being up all night was part of the deal and that my daughter would sleep once she was ready.
But after meeting with a sleep consultant, that’s when I realized … had I actually been doing a disservice to my daughter by not helping her get good sleep? It hadn’t occurred to me that helping her develop healthy sleep habits was part of my job as a mom. But it was my job. Sleep doesn’t just happen.
So, who am I? Basically, I’m a busy mom who really needs her 8 hours of sleep! After 15 years in marketing, I decided to follow my passion to help moms get their families better sleep. I got a comprehensive education through the Family Sleep Institute and hung up my shingle – well, website. And now I have I have the MOST rewarding job I could have imagined.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being a small business owner is anything but smooth sailing. You’re constantly in search of clients and can’t afford to take your foot off the gas. There is no slacking off. No time “off the clock”. No consistent paycheck to fall back on. But that’s also the fun of it – you’re in charge of your own destiny and direction.

Awesome Little Sleepers is a Nationally Certified Sleep Consulting business. We work with families to help get children (and parents!) the healthy, restorative sleep they deserve.
What sets up apart from other sleep consulting companies is our customized approach. There is no one-size-fits-all solution to sleep training. So we use our vast knowledge of pediatric sleep and years of experience to help each of our clients determine what will work best for their unique family.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Atlanta and was generally a good kid. Except for the sneaking out to Café Intermezzo and hanging out late nights around Chastain Park – don’t tell my parents!
