Today we’d like to introduce you to Joy Wyatt.
Joy, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a teenager, I was passionate about promotions and helping people gain exposure. I shared the idea with my late father and eventually established Fly Girl Status in 2005, my senior year of high school. For over ten years, I helped promote many artists, party hosts, DJs, artist management & branding companies, independent record labels and more. I have worked with many of your favorite artists. During my senior year of college, which was 2009, I formed an interest in real estate and property management. I shared my interest with a close friend, and then he introduced me to his sister, who had already been in the business for almost 20 years. I started showing properties for her when I was at home on breaks and assisting her with other property management tasks. This eventually led me to get my real estate license under Real Property Management. It took a lot of hard work. Lessons learned motivation and inspiration to get where I am today. I am still not where I want to be, but by God’s grace and my determination, I will be soon.
Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, it was not a smooth road. I had to adjust to late nights and early mornings. I had clients who tried to play me about money. I lost friends. Some people called me names and tried to belittle me. Sometimes, I had more work than I had money with little to no help. Along the way, I have learned some tough lessons. For both my real estate business and Fly Girl Status, it is very challenging because of the fast pace required. Time is of the essence, so there is very little room for any mistakes.
Tell us more about the business.
I am a realtor for Real Property Management. We specialize in full service property management. My company is known for being professional and handling issues promptly. I work for my clients and not just for the “money”. Because we are a firm that handles property management, assistance with buying and selling homes, and renovations, we are set apart from others.
With Fly Girl Status, I specialize in social media marketing and management. I also provide business administrative services, mainly assistant duties. We compose e-mail blasts for clients and offer business planning services as well. I am most proud of my company because of the relationships I have built, and it gives young females hope that they can do it too.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Real estate is a booming industry right now. I plan on purchasing my investment properties. Being that social media marketing is huge in the industry. Changes with Fly Girl Status depends on the demand of clients’ exposure.
