Meet Nicole Nash of Stanton & Worthy in Midtown and Old Fourth Ward

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Nash.

Nicole, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in Detroit, Michigan but my parents moved my sister, brother and me outside of the city where I went to high school. I watched my father work and go to law school to become a lawyer. I looked up to him, and I wanted to be him. I saw how much he did for others. I also watched my mother closely, especially when she spoke about saving lives as a doctor. They were my heroes, and I knew that I couldn’t play any games if I were going to follow in their footsteps. My parents were fun, loving, but they were very serious when it came to education and handling your business. They taught us from a young age that we needed to be self-sufficient and on our A-game at all times. The Stanton parents raised us to be kind, helpful, independent, fun, caring, intelligent, serious, and so much more. As a teenager and young adult, I always enjoyed writing, sports, learning, and being around people. I knew I wanted to make an impact on the world and be a great inspiration to my community, especially my younger siblings.

After college at Michigan and law school at Michigan State, I moved to Atlanta to start a new life. I also wanted to explore my Southern roots from my father’s side of the family. There, in Atlanta, I began my grind. I worked several jobs at once for a few years. I worked at Swarovski in the mall, State Farm, as a Contract Analyst for a major corporation, and I worked at various law firms in the city. Networking and getting to know people was important to me. I continued to write, as well. I knew my potential was growing, and I knew that I wanted to do more. It wasn’t until I started working for the Cochran Firm that I began to know that I was getting closer to my purpose. There, I met my friend and business partner, and together we founded our law firm. Through owning my own business, I have grown so much professionally and personally. I have written articles, won awards, attended and spoken at seminars, and I have even made appearances on TV shows. I have learned that to achieve greatness, you must be humble, kind, and be willing to sacrifice. Most importantly, you must be willing to love. With knowing that, I met my husband during my journey and with him along my side, I know that I can continue to embark upon my path and change lives for the positive.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road, but I am thankful for that because it made me stronger. Although the road has been rewarding, it was a rough road. Also, it still is a rough road. I believe that there is nothing that’s come easy to be that’s been worth my time. Some of my struggles along the way were figuring out what exactly I wanted to do because I had so many ideas that I had to narrow down. I was impacted by sexism and racism, and I was trying to find my place. At some points along the road, I trusted the wrong people and made poor decisions. I was growing up, I was figuring it out, and I was always missing back home.

Please tell us about your business.
Stanton & Worthy is a boutique law firm that specializes in consumer and business bankruptcy mainly, as well as other general practices of law (such as DUI, civil practice, contract, customs seizures). Our firm maintains an environment that centers on integrity, quality, and honesty. We are known for efficiency and the highest quality of work. We are also known for being personable to our clients – our clients are very special to us, and we care about each one of them, especially since most of them are clients for at least three years or more. We assess our clients’ circumstances and find ways to resolve their problems by incorporating financial literacy. Our clients are our highest priority, and we value the relationship we build with each one of them. One thing I’m proud of is that with our firm, we help guide clients towards financial freedom and restarting their lives after substantial, or oftentimes devastating, things have occurred. We are set apart because of our compassion and understanding. We understand that each client is unique. Therefore, we treat each client with the respect, individuality, and compassion that they deserve. We are an all-Black female firm that focuses on uplifting the community, empowerment, and women empowerment. We are so much more than what people see on the outside.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am looking forward to growing my family, traveling, and watching Stanton & Worthy grow. I am planning to be more engaged in the community, a great leader, and write more about my life and the legal impacts in the world. I plan to travel the world with my husband and watch his dreams continue to blossom into realities. I will continue to make my parents and siblings proud. I used to think I was getting to the top of my mountain, but this is just the beginning.
