Meet Donald Bryant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Donald Bryant.

Donald, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I “DJ HITMAN DB”, better known as DB started by throwing the infamous #BAYSTREET party and slowly became the DJ I am today. Inspired by hip hops’ early years, I quickly grew to absorb the heyday of the influential hip hop group Run-D.M.C., which prominently featured DJ Jam Master Jay. Although my love for music began at an early age, I didn’t stumble across my passion for DJ’ing until college. The infamous “DJ HITMAN DB” house parties were one for the books. It was from here that I realized I couldn’t let this gift go to waste. My older cousin, James Lester, is the one that taught him the fundamentals that eventually made me the DJ I am today.

DJ HITMAN DB is the man behind one of South Georgia’s most anticipated annual summer events, “#SUMMERFEST” which has been endorsed by legends such as Boosie Badazz. I have DJ’d for Lil Baby, Kollision, YFN Lucci, Kodak Black, Plies, Da Baby, Key Glock, TLE Cinco, Kamillion, Bank Roll Fresh (RIP) Flexico, Nukk The Real, Haitian Head and more. I have also been on the air with other DJ’sDJ’s like DJ Tremayne, Fat Boy Rhymer, DJ Tray, DJ Polo, DJ Offset and DJ Shotyme (Rest In Peace).

I also had a mix show on 96.3 WJIZ out of Albany GA and now features on Valdosta’s, 107.9 The BEAT, on Sundays at 8 pm. I am currently represented by South Coast Music Group’s official publicist, Bianca Rugimbana.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to where I now have not been easy. There have been times where I just wanted to quit and pursue another career. Every event hasn’t been successful. It has been times where it was just me and maybe a few other people in the club. It has even been sometimes where the venue would close down early because of a lack of attendance. I came to realize in this type of business, every event isn’t going to be successful, but I’ve had way more successful events than non successful events. Seeing people enjoy themselves motivates me to keep this going.

Please tell us about your work.
It all started from scratch, didn’t get the opportunity to open for other DJ’s that already had a name for themselves. I am a self-taught DJ which makes me appreciate this business behind it even more. I specialize in just being me and entraining the crowd and being a very versatile DJ. I’m known for throwing big events and my major crowd control. I am proud of myself and my business because of where I came from with this. I went from just playing music off of an iPod, laptop, just playing music off of iTunes. Having to borrow DJ turn tables, not having speakers. Then eventually having a little 200 dollar board working with that until I saved up enough to get me a better board. I’ve went thru 3 laptops, invested in money, time and other sacrifices to make it where I am today.

The difference between me and others is that I really come to put on a show and I always handle business in the proper way. I am a firm believer in good business and keeping a clean face. It will take you a long way.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan on working and networking more to DJ in different cities, different venues also a collab with more DJ’s. I’m always working on planing on my next move, next event, next artist to bring. I want to give people a memorable experience.
