Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharena Smith.
Sharena, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In October of 2018, I was working for a huge company. However, I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset. I paid my deposit down for training to learn how to wax. I was released from this company due to production reasons; however, I never let that dampen my spirits. I didn’t know how I would pay for the rest of my training because all of the money I had saved up I put on bills but I stayed prayed up and ask God to give me a sign if this was for me. I went to Atlanta to Uber and Lyft until I made up the rest of the money. I finally paid for training and December of 2018 I was well.
On my way to becoming a waxer. As people would say, I jumped off the porch giving free services to all of my closest friends and families to perfect my craft. I started with zero followings when creating my Facebook business page, and I am currently at 3.8 following. In less than 6 months, I was over 1k. When I realize I have a passion for this, I took it to the next level and joined the school to get my Esthetician’s License. So I’m very excited about this journey, and after a year of being in Esthetics, I can truly say I’ve turned my Passion into Purpose.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles I’ve had along the way is finances as I’m funding everything for my business out of my pocket. When I was 21, I purchased my first home. This was a major concern for me because I literally thought either I make away or I lose everything in the process. I’ve lost my uncle recently, and it wasn’t very easy knowing someone who had so much faith in you has gone away. He would pray over me and my business, and it meant a lot to me. A challenge was to keep everything pushing without letting people see me sweat, especially my parents, I never wanted to fail them, but I had to take this leap of faith for me.
Snatched Mobile Waxing – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Snatched Mobile Waxing is a Mobile service. People can contact me for all of their full-body waxing needs. The fact that so many women/men take pride in their physical appearance and the removal of unwanted hair makes me so proud to be able to help them. I’m set apart from others because At Snatched Mobile Waxing. My motto is to be convenient, affordable, patient, and informative as well as catering to the needs/wants of everyone I come across.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment was I was recently nominated in the Girl Boss Awards Gala in Columbus, Ga. Initially, I only wanted to be nominated for the Emerging Business of the year, but I was nominated for four categories. Those categories were Emerging business of the year, Best Esthetician, Biggest Supporter of the Year, and Most Influential. I won three out of four of the awards. Those awards were Biggest Supporter, Most Influential, and Best Esthetician. Also, hitting different milestones on my following, which let me know my name and business was getting out to the public. A lady also inboxed me from Arizona, and she said she googled waxing, and my business came up so on a national level, so that made me feel good.
