Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabe Peterson.
Gabe, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I studied chemical engineering but ended up not working in anything chemistry-related. I started baking since it’s basically edible chemistry experiments. I eventually started noticing a lot of grocery store breads and flours had unnecessary ingredients in their breads. I decided it was important to provide a better non-additive bread to Atlanta. So me and my brother started the company.
Has it been a smooth road?
It was difficult. I still work a 9-5 while growing the business. Baking is pretty time specific so you have to work very early or late hours. However, it’s worth it. You’re making a product to be proud of and you build strong relationships with people who believe in your purpose.
We’d love to hear more about Simple Bread Company.
We focus on making breads with the most minimal ingredients possible. We use non-additive/non-GMO flour. We primarily make bread and bagels. We’re working on expanding our offerings though. We’re proud of a lot of things with the business.

3. The community support has been tremendous.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I’ve been fortunate with a lot of experiences growing up that helped set us up for success.
1. My dad was extremely hard working. He passed that onto me.
2. I was an amateur skateboarder. So I learned to get up after falling down a lot (literally).
3. My family was all vegetarian and focused on organic foods in our diet. This made me really concerned about what we offer as a company.
4. I was diagnosed with ADD as a kid. It made me realize I have limitations in certain areas. So, I needed to leverage other strengths to succeed.
